"How... You were... Deceit said... Virgil?" I closed my eyes and braced for the yelling, but he never did. I opened my eyes again to see Patton looking back, the biggest smile on in lips and completely covered in tears. "You're alive? You look different."

"Yeah, I'm still getting used to it. It's nice to see you again." I went over to the edge and sat down. Patton followed suit, looking shocked. I would be too if I was him. I was dead for 3 years after all.

"When did you dye it?" I looked over at confused. "Your hair... When did you dye it."

"I didn't." Now it was his turn to be confused. I just smiled awkwardly. "When I exploded, for lack of a better way of saying it, I... How do I put this? The fire purified me?"

"What do you mean kiddo?"

"You remember who my birth father was right? Marcos wasn't exactly subtle with the reveal of that information." He just nodded and listened, his smile never faltering. It was nice. Dad always was the one to recognize me... I should have known this was going to happen. I just... I was just hoping it wouldn't have. "Well, I was..." I stopped... I never could say it out loud and even after all that's changed I still can't say it. Because once I say it, then i'm accepting it and I NEVER wasn't to accept that that's what I was.

"You were a nightmare?" I looked back at him but saw nothing but love. I wonder if he even really believes I am here. Or does he think he's imagining it? I just nodded, I couldn't say it.

"That's why my hair and eyes were black. It corrupted me, in a sense. That night I just wanted to keep you all safe. I wanted the evil to disappear forever. I wanted you and the others, Thomas, to live the rest of your life without that darkness. So for the first time ever I drew on what I got from the dragons." Patton had this sad look on his face. He knew what I meant when I said darkness. He knew that I knew what it should've done to me. "The purifying Flames of a dragon is the only way to kill a nightmare for good. Decapitation and all that stops them for a while but they'll come back. I couldn't let that happen."

"Kiddo..." I looked away, I couldn't see the pain in his eyes. It was worse than the desperation in Deceit's eyes when he was trying to get me to leave.

"I used those flames and they reacted by purging the darkness... That included me. I should have died. I would have died but..." I looked back over at Patton with a smile. "I wasn't just a nightmare now was I? I was Anxiety, a sanders side." I looked down at my hands and began to fidget with the. "The flames saw that part of me and instead of destroying it, it nourished it, purifying me from the inside out. This is what I would have looked like. Not what you were expecting huh?

"Virgil, I don't know what to say."

"Don't say anything... please." I closed my eyes and held my chest as I started shaking. "The others can't know... not yet. Please, Dad."

"Alright, son but... Tell me, Why did you never come back?" It was hard. I wanted to so badly. But...

"I never forgave myself." I didn't just kill the nightmares, I destroyed an entire kingdom... and set this whole Onyx mess in motion.

"What do I call you?" Again confusion, he just laughed. "Your name, What do I call you if you don't want people knowing?" He is literally the best dad anyone could ask for. I missed him so much.

"HEY... A... WHY ARE YOU JUST SITTING THERE? YOUR SUCH A SLOWPOKE, WE HAD TO TURN AROUND JUST TO COME TO GET YOU AGAIN."

"That... That's what I go by... Just call me A, for Anxiety." GOD DAMN IT PRINCEY, why do you always have to barge in!? Roman just looked over at Pat and smile super wide.

"HEY, YOU FOUND PATTON! GUESS WHO WE FOUND ON OUR WAY BACK?" Roman moves over and I see Logan adjusting his tie and glasses.

"Your excessive volume is not only pointless but vexatious as well."

"I don't know what that means nerd."

"That is because you are simpleminded." Typical Logan... They haven't changed much at all, have they?

It's good to be back.
