Detroit: Become Human [ONESHOTS] [DISCONTINUED]

"W-What are you doing?!" Kara yelled towards the android who was holding a knife up to timid little Alice. Kara rushed forwards and stood in front of Alice, protecting her from the crazed android.

"Humans are nasty... t-they want to hurt Ralph..." the android mumbled, his hands visibly shaking, "L-Look what they did to him..." Ralph turned his head to show the large gash on his face and the damaged skin. It looked terrible. Kara decided to try and calm him.

"I-I'm an android too, see?" She said as he held up her hand and the synthetic skin melted away to reveal the while metal underneath. Ralph then hesitated, lowering his knife slightly.

"...y-you won't hurt Ralph?" he asked, his voice was quiet and scared. Kara shook her head, giving him a reassuring look.

"We won't. We just need a place to spend the night," she replied. Ralph's face suddenly lit up into a smile, his mood turning around quickly.

"You can stay with Ralph! It's been a while since guests have come round," he said happily, skipping towards the door to the abandoned squat, "Come, come!" He rushed inside the house and Kara and Alice followed, Alice was clinging to Kara's arm.

"I don't like this, Kara..." Alice mumbled quietly, looking up at her. Kara crouched down so she was eye level with her, placing her hands on her shoulders.

"It's just for one night, we'll leave as soon as the sun rises," She said to reassure her, "I'll get a fire going." She stood back up and looked for what she needed to make a fire, finding old paper, matches and some wooden planks. She got the fire started and smiled softly at Alice who moved over to the warmth. Upon looking around some more she found a pillow and an old quilt. She set up a little bed next to the fire for Alice.

Sounds of scraping came from the other room, making Kara frown a little. She got up and walked slowly into the kitchen where she could see Ralph scraping 'rA9' into the wall with his knife.

"Why are you writing that?" Kara asked softly. Ralph stopped what he was doing and turned to her, looking a little confused himself.

"I...I don't know.... I don't know...." he mumbled before continuing. Kara tilted her head and watched curiously. The silence between them wasn't awkward, but it wasn't comfortable either.

"How long have you been here for, Ralph?" Kara asked, making Ralph stop his scraping again. He turned to face her, letting out a simulated sigh.

"Ralph has lost count of the days... it's been a while," he mumbled fiddling with the knife, "Ralph has lived here since he ran away... the humans thought it would be fun to torture him... they burned him... Ralph was so scared..." Kara gave him a sympathetic look and slowly stepped closer, reaching a hand up and gently cupping his face, running her thumb over the large wound. Ralph flinched a little but didn't stop her, looking down at her with a saddened expression.

"You didn't deserve that..." Kara said softly, looking up at him, her hand still on his cheek. Ralph sniffled a little as synthetic tears filled his eyes and began to run down his face. Kara got even closer and wrapped her arms around him, pulling him into a hug. Ralph hesitated before hugging her back, his head rested on her shoulder as he sobbed softly. Kara gently rubbed his back, holding him close. She felt so bad for him. He was just a softy who was damaged by bad people, he meant no harm and it was clear to see that.

"T-Thank you... no one has e-ever been this nice to Ralph..." Ralph sniffled, still hugging her tightly. She smiled softly and kissed the side of his head, making the damaged android blush a light shade of blue. The two continued to hug for a few minutes before separating.

"I'm going to go put Alice to bed," Kara spoke softly, smiling gently up at him. Ralph nodded and stepped back. Kara walked over to the door and walked out back to Alice. Ralph stared at the door with the softest smile on his face. Maybe good people did still exist after all.
