Ellie's pov

I wait nervously for Harry to continue speaking. I wonder what he's going to tell me? Like, I understand that he is a gang leader and has probably killed people, in fact I have seen him kill the enemy with my own eyes, but I'm not sure if I'm prepared to hear it.

"So, I'll uh, jump right into it then."

"Wait."

Panic ignites in his eyes. "What's wrong?"

"Hold out your hand."

Panic is replaced with confusion. "My hand? Ellie, what-?"

Rolling my eyes, I cut off his next sentence. "It's not like I can physically move, so just hold out your freaking hand!"

He squints his eyes at me but complies to my wishes.

I entwine his cold hand with my own and squeeze; reminiscent of what he did earlier.

"Okay, continue."

Harry looks at me blankly for a second before composing himself.

"So. I had a family. Before my life with the Pythons. My mother, father, and my older sister G-gemma." He stumbles on the last name, his demeanor darkening considerably.

"We lived in England at the time, but when I was 13, my father moved us to America for his business. At least, that's what he told my mom. In reality, he was extremely deep into debt to a loan shark with violent tendencies. My father moved us to America in fear of the loan shark coming after all of us."

Harry stops talking and seems to be hesitant.

"You can stop if you want to Hazza, no pressure."

At the sound of his nickname, appreciation blooms on his face. He closes his eyes briefly and resumes speaking.

"I remember that horrible day vividly. During school hours, I had a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach, but I just ignored it. Where we lived, the school that I went to was close but Genma's school was farther away so my parents drove her while I walked.

As soon as I turned on my street, I knew that something was wrong. Our house's door was wide open and the car door was open as well with the engine running."

Harry pauses again and I squeeze his hand, telling him that he can take his time without words.

Harry's pov (Again, trigger warning)

As I try to tell Ellie of that horrible day, I find it difficult to speak. Almost as if my past is so horrible that something is stopping me from speaking the words out loud.

I finally find the courage to begin again and I am thrown back into one of the darkest day of my life.

Dark claws scratch at my insides as I approach my hollow house. Something is wrong, I just know it.

As I pass by my parent's vehicle, I notice dark stains gathered on the passenger and driver's seat. I look away quickly, trying to pretend that I don't know what it is but my subconscious gnaws at me.

Blood.

I speed up and enter my house, closing the door behind me.
