Somehow Harry and I evade Louis' intruding questions, and he eventually gives up. But knowing Louis, I know that he'll try again. Possibly with Daria's help. The thought makes me shudder at the two of them, cornering me, to talk about Harry and I's love/sex life.
That can't happen for many reasons.
It's been about an hour, and Liam still hasn't called me back. They're all in the car in front of us, and I know I could just call him, but truth is that I'm scared.
I'm a coward who's scared of what he's going to say. Liam may own the apartment building, but I live in it and I just cannot take anymore bad news. It sounds selfish, but can't I afford to be a little bit selfish right now?
So for now, I'll just wait until he calls me. Basically ignoring the problem like I always tend to do.
As I look out the window at the road signs, I notice that we're leaving New Jersey. Previously, I might have been upset about it but now that my mother is dead, I have nothing that ties me to that place. I mean sure I had a job and everything, but the only true reason I returned to New Jersey was for my mom.
Niall starts complaining about being hungry and needing fuel, so, Harry contacted the other car and told them that we were going to stop at whatever restaurant that we saw next.
We soon pull into a small country diner called, Mama's Kitchen. It looks quaint, but very cute. It looks like a grandma's kitchen, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's actually charming.
Harry helps me out of the car while Niall runs ahead to get a table for everyone. Parked next to us is the other group that makes up all of us, but I'm extremely surprised to see two more people that I wasn't expecting.
"Ellie, dear! Come here child and give me a hug! I'm so sorry about your mother, hun, but everything will be alright." I'm pulled into the tight embrace of Dr. Ross's wife, Cecilia.
Although tiny, she has one hell of a grip and I feel myself start to wheeze a bit. As I'm being squeezed to death from the front, someone comes up and squeezes me in a crushing hug from the back.
I begin to feel irritated until the person whispers, "I'm so sorry Ellie... about what happened. I wish I could've done something."
Daria.
For the first time sine I met her, she actually sounds like a fifteen year old and I feel that urge to shield her from all the shit that's happening. Even though it was my mother, I feel bad because she probably ended up seeing her in that horrible state.
So I let them hug me, even if I am being slowly suffocated to death.
"That's enough dear, you're crushing the girl. You too, young lady." Alverich appears next to us and carefully pries his wife's arms from around me and gives Daria a look until she finally lets go of me.
"Fine, fine. She looked like she needed a hug is all, Alverich! Don't kill our vibe!"
A snort of surprised laughter escapes from me at her words and Daria bursts out in giggles as well. Alverich, on the other hand, raises his eyebrows at her confusedly.
"Kill our vibe? Where in the world did you pick that up from, dear?"
She rolls her pale green eyes at him. "MTV, of course! Get with the times Rich, sweetie. Now let's go inside and eat before poor Niall passes out." We all look inside to see Niall clutching his stomach dramatically as the waitress watches him wearily.
Smiling to myself, I follow the couple inside, with everyone hot on my heels.
The diner is warm and smells delicious. My stomach growls and my mouth waters at the scent of home cooked food.
