Chapter 16
We'll be gone one day
When I get back, the tent is up and Sasori is sitting on a rock waiting. As I approach, he stands up walks over to me. "I heard something..." He says, "I was starting to get worried." "I know. I came right back. I heard a twig snap behind me, and when I turned around I saw something walking off into the woods." I explain, setting the pile of kindling on the ground. "What was it?" He asks. He looks really really scared. "I don't know, I'm sure it's fine! If it walked away, I'm sure it won't come back." I say, trying to reassure him. He sighs.
We kindle the fire, which doesn't take long. We sit by the warmth, me leaning on his shoulder. He pulls me close, the darkness settling around us. "You know, despite everything, I'm still scared to lose you..." I admit, "Not as bad as before, but still." "You know what? I am too." He says, a look of wonder on his perfect face. I suddenly sit up so I'm facing him. "Please don't leave me! When Pain attacked us and I'd thought you'd died, I felt like I had no purpose, like the fact that you were gone meant that I had lost the battle, that it didn't matter if I lived or died. The fact that you were willing you give up your life like that proves that you love me. And I love you, so, that's why I can't lose you, okay?"
I gush, clutching his hand. He opens his mouth, then closes it. Looks and me dumbfounded, then brings his hand up to my cheek, holding my hand tighter. "Dei..." He says, wonder in his eyes. "I know." I say, eyes cast downward. "We can't help what happens, but I just had to say it." I'm surprised when I feel his soft lips press against mine, him pulling me closer in the heat of the fire.
My eyes go wide before closing tightly as I fiercely kiss him back, my fingers tangling in his hair. He tilts his head, giving him more closeness as he runs his fingertips up and down my back, making me shiver. I lightly moan into the kiss as he pulls me even closer, our bodies fitting perfectly together. "Deidara..." He breathes, "I love you so much... I'll never leave..." "Okay..." I reply, bringing his head closer. I'm just so overwhelmed at everything that has been happening, I melt into him for what seems like forever. Though this life may turn out to be fleeting, this moment seems like an eternity...
He swiftly brushes my hair over my shoulder, his breath ghosting across my jaw line. He leans down and starts kissing my neck, sending bolts of electricity through the sensitive skin. I grab his shoulders as I tilt my head to give him more access. His movements like poetry, he snakes one arm around my waist, his other hand wrapping around my neck, pulling me closer. The fire just embers now, the darkness envelops us. It's good though, after all... I'd rather not see the truth that we'll both be gone one day...
