It’s seven pm, and I haven’t the slightest idea of what I’m going to wear for my date with Chris, so I call my bestie to come help me with the  preparation.

Jane is good at doing make up and finding me a good outfit whenever I feel overwhelmed.

So for now it’s safe to say that I have my own beauty squad all in one.

Jane holds up a dress that yells ‘anybody wanna have a make out session?’- it barely has a back, it shows half my butt and the front is not to be mentioned.

“No, Jane. I’m going out on a date, not look like I’m there waiting to make out with somebody. So the dress is a no- show. And plus, Chris said I should wear something casual”

I lift up the dress from my bed and take a long look at it. ‘I can’t believe I even bought this crap with my own money,’ my mind is in disbelief right now and I can’t blame it.

I just enjoy spending my own money so much that I forget to look at the ‘left out details’, like the lengths of dresses.

“Okay then. What are you going to wear, since you’re so great at choosing an outfit?”

I can’t believe she just said that, I can hear the sarcasm in her voice, it hurts.

“Well, that’s why I called you here, isn’t it?” I say to her with a crooked smile, hoping she would choose something more ‘me’ this time.

After what seems like thirty minutes of searching, Janette finally picks out an outfit that I can wear.

A black skinny jean that hugs my legs and butt like a second skin, a white cropped top and my black and white Vans.

To top it off, I tie my hair into a ponytail and put on my favourite accessories, which is a pink and gold necklace, bracelet and earrings.

I decide to not wear too much make up tonight, to avoid having to scrub my face like it hasn’t been washed in days, so I just go for a more natural look with an eye liner to bring out the light brown of my eyes.

I put on Vanilla scented perfume and grab my handbag/ backpack.

As we walk out of my bedroom, my mom is waiting for me down the stairs with a camera in her hand.

‘Typical mom, I was kind of hoping she’d be asleep at this time.’ I say to myself, but I guess we don’t always get what we want, right?

After dozens of pictures taken by my mom and more compliments from Nicole- ‘why is she still awake at this time?’ she finally retires and all I have to do now is wait for my date.

The minute I sit down on the couch, the doorbell goes off and my mom shouts for whoever is at the door to come in.

But before she can be heard by the person at the door, I fly to it and pull it open with enough force to have the hinges budge.

Chris is standing there in his handsome glory that I forget to speak.

He's wearing black jeans, a black shirt, black converse shoes and a black jacket.

His hair is combed back and it looks like he just came out of the shower.

"Good evening, sunshine" What's with the nicknames?

"Good evening, Chris." I reply blankly, not giving it away that his voice has my inside churning.

"Shall we?" He says, opening his arm for me to take.

"Alright kids, don't come back too late. Bye!" Yells my mom from inside the house.

"Bye mom!" I shout and Chris chuckles, making me swoon even more at him.
