I woke up feeling hot all over my body. I tried to pry my eyes open, but all I could see was darkness. “Where am I?” I ask myself as I struggle to move my limbs. But no sound came out. That’s strange.
Suddenly, I see a light in the distance, which looks like a tiny opening. The more I move towards the light, the farther it seems to get.
I try to scream for help, but again, no sound. I can’t see anything else around me other than that tiny light in the far distance.
The closer I get, the more my body burns, the faster my heart beats, the clearer things seem to get.
In the far distance towards the light, I see a face, but I can’t really put my finger around it.
Realising that this would probably take me all day, I start running. Running so fast like my life depends on it, running towards the face that would pull me out of my misery.
As the light grows bigger, the clearer the face becomes. Chris? What is he doing here?
He looks different, though. But what could he be so mad about? I try to get closer to him so that I can somehow calm him down a notch. But as I get to him, I’m shoved back by a strong force, only to realise that I’ve been punched in the stomach by the creature that looks so much like him.
Yet his actions are nothing like his. Chris would never hurt me, would he? Then the light seems to enhance in size and it looks like fire.
He’s holding the fire in his hands, and looks like he’s about to throw it at me. No, don’t tell me he’s going to burn me. Just as he’s about to throw the fire at me, I feel cold all over my body like I’ve been thrown into a freezer.
“Angel, wake up!” Thank God it was only a dream. Although I can’t seem to shake off the feeling is seeing Chris looking like that, what does it mean?
I have so many questions in my head right now, and it’s causing me a headache. “What happened?” I ask, shocked to see myself lying on my bed.
“You collapsed after Rose’ ended our friendship. We brought you home after that.” Jane looks terrible. Eyes puffy from all the crying and her hair is all messy like she’s been running her fingers through it a few too many times.
“So why am I so wet and cold?” I realise as I’m dripping wet and shivering like a maniac.
“You were having a nightmare and I didn’t have a choice but to splash you with ice cold water. What were you dreaming about anyway?”
That question pulled me into a thoughtful three minutes before finally giving her an answer.
“I was in a dark place, unable to move my open or even open my eyes at first. But then I kept trying and when I was able to open them, I saw a light and started running towards it."
"The next thing I remember, Chris was looking like a beast, eyes all black and teeth looking as sharp as canines."
"Then he punched me in the stomach, causing me to fall back. And then I remember him trying to burn me with the light that later turned into a ball of fire."
"And then the next thing I see you holding an empty bucket in your hands.” Phew! I feel breathless just from saying that.
“Chris?” She asks with a raised eyebrow, making me groan inwardly at how absurd my nightmare was. “Yeah, that’s exactly what I thought.”
The next few hours, we spent in my room watching movies and eating junk food.
“I’m bored. Let’s go shopping.” Jane suggests, but I was thinking it too. Before we watched movies, I took a quick shower just to keep warm and changed into some clean clothes, so I didn’t need much work done on me for going shopping.
“I like this one on you, Angie.” Jane stares at me in awe at the revealing outfit she chose.
It’s a blood- red dress with a slit that goes all the way up to my mid- thigh.
It has lace sleeves, an open back that goes all the way down to my waist, and the front has a long slit all the way to my belly button area.
I can’t deny it though, it looks quite sexy and hugs my body in all the right places. In this dress, I could definitely get into a fancy club, whether I’m too young or not. It’s a pity that I can’t buy it, though.
I mean, where would I even go wearing this dress? I’m not a fan of fancy dinners and all that mature kind of stuff.
As I said earlier, I’m a laid back and lazy kind of girl.
“Come on, Angie. Take it. I’ll also look for one if you promise to buy it.”
“Choose one first, then I’ll consider buying it.”I’m not falling for that trick. Jane chooses a black ankle high dress that looks exactly like mine, just the colours are different.
We decided to buy them and then go out to dinner, with our boyfriends, of course. As in sort of like a double date.
Oh I didn’t tell you? Jane finally said yes to being Jonah’s girlfriend. Oops, sorry. I can already picture the four of us on our double date and the thought makes me heart beat faster with excitement.
The rest of our journey at the mall resolves in us walking around looking for accessories and shoes, but with no luck, we came back empty handed in that department.
Once we get home, Jane packs some of her stuff to return to her house, but she promises to come back the next week.
I’m going to miss her a lot, even though I can just decide to pack some of my stuff and go visit her, but I choose not to.
Just a few minutes after Jane left, I hear a tap on my window and think it’s just the tree rustling outside from the wind. But fate always has a way of winning.
There goes the tap again, and this time I decide to go check it out. The moment I open my window, I see Chris at the bottom of it and I can’t help but blush insanely at the thought of him not being able to stay away from me for too long.
I know I might sound like I’m way ahead of myself right now, but a girl can dream, people, a girl can dream. “Hey beautiful. Mind open the front door for me?”
Really? Does he think I’ll let him through the front with both my parents and those little snot-faces in the living room? I don’t think so.
“No, climb up. I’d like to see those muscles bulge with some workout babe.” I say a little seductively, which earns me a challenging little smile.
Just as I’m about to turn around and get comfortable, seeing that I’ll be spending some time waiting for him to get up here, I’m startled by a hand that grabs a hold of my wrist.
“Gosh, Chris. How the hell did you manage to get up here so quick?” I say whilst struggling to even my heartbeat.
“I’ve got skills babe, mad skills.” With that he closes the window and steps farther into my room.
