I woke up entangled in the arms of Jane, remembering our tear fest last night from our visit at the hospital.

Turns out, Jonah told Jane how he really felt, with tears in his eyes. I can’t imagine the amount of tears she shed yesterday.

To say that we woke feeling exhausted is an understatement, because this feeling is an indescribable one.

The good thing, though, is that we might take Jonah home today, if we're lucky.

The doctor said he was doing better than they had expected after our visit, so we could come again today and pick him up.

Because of the lit up mood about Jonah hopefully being released today, Jane wore bright colours to school.

She wore a pink cropped top, white jean shorts, black and white vans, and she tied her hair in two messy buns.

She didn’t wear any make up today, but she still looks like an angel. With lip-gloss and the necklace that Jonah had given to her yesterday as her only accessory.

I, on the other hand, wore my grey sweat pants and a white cropped top, my black converse and topped it off with Chris’ jacket over my shoulders.

I did the same with my hair as Jane did- two messy buns that were a bit bigger than Jane’s, because my hair is slightly longer than hers.

Even though we are exhausted this morning, we make an effort to look good, which we do.

I don’t mean to brag, but Jane and I would still look good even as hobos.

As we made our downstairs to the kitchen, I can smell the delicious breakfast my mom is brewing in there, making my stomach grumble at the smell of it possibly being pancakes.

I was right. My mom made us pancakes for breakfast, and I couldn’t be happier- pancakes are not only my favourite, but Jane’s as well.

We find Nicole and Nicholas sitting at the breakfast table, stuffing their little faces with the pancakes.

By the way, Nicole and Nicholas are my two annoying little siblings. They are twins and one is a boy and the other is a girl.

Judging by their names, I don’t need to explain who is who.

“I hope you didn’t finish all the pancakes, otherwise you’re dead.” I threaten them, seeing how much of the stack is already gone.

“Morning to you too, grumpy gorilla.” Nicole shoots back. God I hate that nickname. “Morning, you two. How did you sleep?”

My dad asks, rather enthusiastic this morning. “Morning Nick, Jennifer. I had a good night sleep, thanks.”

My mom and dad told Jane to stop calling them Mr and Mrs Patterson, to avoid having to twist her tongue.

The same with Jane’s parents. I was not allowed to call them by their surname, which was a huge relief for me.

“You guys don’t have a lot of time to sit down and eat breakfast. You’re late anyways.”

My mom seems too eager to ‘kick’ us out of the house today. Since she and my dad are working from home today, I can only imagine what they’d be doing this whole time while we’re at school.

That’s not an image I want to keep in my head. The drive to school is rather musical today, Jane can’t stop singing to the radio while I’m chatting with Chris on the phone.

I couldn’t be happier to arrive at our prison cells (school), because Jane’s singing is like two cats fighting for a bowl of tuna.

I’m greeted by a pair of big arms around my waist as I exit Jane’s car. Rose’ is just standing by the staircase with Jake in her arms and she’s looking this way.

She’s not the only one looking this way towards us. Everybody is looking at us, some in awe and some in jealousy.

I can’t help the sudden blush that makes its way on my cheeks as I realise that Jane and I are looking quite flashy today, with cropped tops and messy buns.

Being the possessive person that he is, Chris’ hold tightens around my waist and I can’t help but roll my eyes at him.

As we make our way to the lockers, Rose’ comes up to us looking very set on whatever it is that she wants to say or do.

“Hi guys. Seeing that our friendship is already over, I’d like to make it official.

I’ve enjoyed my time with you two, but sometimes I feel as if I’ve been wasting my time trying to be accepted and not being appreciated for who I am.

Instead of finding best friends, I only found people who I sat with during lunch or whatever. I’ll see you two around.”

And with that she turns on her heels to leave. Did Rose’ just end our friendship?

I mean, I knew it would come to an end, but not like this. Suddenly, I’m feeling light headed.

My head starts spinning like the wheels of a motorcycle and pounds in pain as my vision gets blurry.

In a matter of seconds, I lose my balance and struggle to stay standing. I hold my head in my inner palms when I faintly hear someone call out my name.

Just when I’m about to hit the ground face first, Chris catches me in his muscular arms.

What happened after that, I don’t know, because I passed out into a dark abyss.
