Monday morning… can’t believe I woke myself up before my alarm went off. I guess I’m just so excited to go to school. Not!
I can’t wait to see Chris, though. I just hope he’s just as excited as I am. Oh shoot! I forgot to tell Rose’ about me and him.
I hope she won’t be mad or anything like that. We all know what type of a person she can be when she feels like a third wheel- she tends to do things without thinking them through.
Anyways, Jane decided to pick me up this morning, because apparently she was in the area doing God knows what.
I finished breakfast earlier than usual today which left my mom and dad staring at me open-mouthed.
They were a bit worried that Chris is turning me into someone different than the usual, lazy ass that I am.
Although it was good to get enough sleep and wake up early and get ready for school I time, it’s just not me.
I’m the laid back, lazy, free type of person who hates waking up early in the morning.
I wear a light blue summer dress and light blue sandals that complement my nail polish that I had put on last night, right after I picked today’s outfit.
Jane’s wearing black skinny jeans, a black vest, her hair is dyed black with raven- coloured tips, and she has on dark make up.
To top it all off, she has a black leather jacket over her shoulders and black combat boots.
She looks like she’s on her way to a funeral, but knowing Jane, something’s not right with her this morning.
“What’s with the Gothic outfit?”
I decide to ask as we join the highway to school. “Nothing’s up, Angel.” Really?
Does she think I’m going to buy that story? “Jane, I’ve known you my entire life. What’s up?”
This time I ask with a serious face. “Jonah had a car accident yesterday. The hospital called me this morning at three o’clock."
"They said that he might not make it out the hospital alive, Angel.
"What if he doesn’t come back? I told him I didn’t want to be with him. And now he’s dying, I feel terrible.”
I notice how her eyes start tearing up at the thought of Jonah never coming back to her.
So I told her to let it all out so she could feel better. “How about this. Let’s go visit him during lunch. If we take too long at the hospital and don’t make it back for the rest of our classes, we’ll stay at the hospital until you feel ready to leave.”
She stops crying and gives me a small smile at that. “Okay. Thanks, Angie. I’d really appreciate that.”
She says as she tries to wipe away the remaining tears on her face. By the way, Jonah is our friend.
He and Jane have been close ever since they were kids, and only last week did he confess his love for her.
She said she didn’t want to be with him, because she didn’t want their friendship to end if things didn’t go well with their relationship.
It might sound crazy, but Jane loves Jonah to death, but she keeps telling him to forget about his feelings for her, which I don’t understand, because they both love each other dearly to let anything go wrong.
Once we arrive at school, Rose’ notices the tension between us and she just chose not say anything to us, because neither of us would entertain her.
The day goes by slowly and Chris has been nothing but supportive of me and Jane, which I’m grateful for.
He asked what was wrong, but I just told him it’s nothing we couldn’t handle.
Rose’ turned her back on us and spent the whole day with Jake. She hasn’t said anything to us the whole day and she even managed to skip a few classes today.
I can feel our friendship with her slipping through our fingers, but I knew it was going to happen one way or another.
“What’s up with Rose’?” Really, Chris? Did you have to bring that up right now?
“Nothing, she just wanted to spend some time with Jake.” I lied. I really don’t what’s been going on with her these past few days.
“Are you ready?” I asked Jane as we make our way to her car and saying goodbye to Chris.
“No, but let’s go anyway.” My poor friend. This has really affected her in a huge way, and I just pray that Jonah makes it.
The drive to the hospital is a quiet one, not an awkward silence, but a rather nervous one.
Once we get inside the hospital, it seems as if the receptionist has been expecting us.
“Morning Miss Patterson, Miss Simpson. Right this way, please.” Without uttering a word, Jane and I follow the lady to a room which happens to be Jonah’s.
As we enter the room, we see his form lying in the bed, probably asleep, but as we step closer inside the room, he lifts up his gaze towards us.
I can see his face light up at the sight of us, but I really think it’s because of seeing Jane.
Their love for one another is clearly visible, even to those who know nothing about them. “Jane, Angel, you finally made it.”
His voice is raspier than the normal voice we’re used to, that means he’s quite thirsty. “Jonah.”
Jane breathes out like she cannot quite decipher what is going on right now. I understand though, I don’t know what I would’ve done if Chris were the one in this hospital bed.
Wait, why am I thinking that far? I couldn’t help but smile at their reactions towards the other. “I thought I had lost you…”
She cries out into Jonah’s chest. “Shh. I’m here baby. Don’t cry.” I can’t help but be blinded by an unshed tear.
So I decide to excuse myself to give them some time alone after greeting Jonah with a bone crushing hug.
Jane spent a really long time in there with Jonah, so when we got home, she went straight to bed, but couldn’t sleep.
Yes, she decide to sleep at my place tonight, because she couldn’t be alone at a time like this. Plus, she needed a shoulder to cry on after Jonah told her how he really felt about her, again.
