Love at first bite

Chapter 32

Chris' POV

“I do not appreciate you coming all the way here and threatening me on my land, James!” I scream out, feeling irritated that it has come to this.

“I’m not threatening anybody, I'm just making a promise. This pack will be mine after today, and so will that lovely mate of yours.” He says with an evil glint in his eyes when he sees my reaction.

‘Alpha, we have your permission to attack. He's threatening our Luna!’

One of my warriors says through our link.

‘Okay, everyone on my mark. Three, two, one, attack!’

Everyone launches themselves into their wolves and attacks the opposing pack.

There's a reason why my pack has never lost a battle, and this is it.

My pack is vicious and they show no mercy when tested.

I look to my left side in time to see one of the warriors tearing off someone's head.

“Are you just going to watch or are you going to fight me?” James, the Alpha of Blood River Pack asks me as he makes his way towards me.

Without a reply, I launch into my wolf who has been waiting impatiently to come out ever since this fucker got here.

I sprint towards him and clamp my teeth into his thigh, ripping off a pretty good chunk before he swipes his paw across my cheek.

I stumble backwards from the impact but before he can ram into me, I get onto his back and bite down onto the back of his shoulder, dislocating it.

I'm distracted by someone trying to get through my barrier and I decide to let them through.

‘Chris, my water just broke. I'm going into labour and I need you. Hurry.’

Her melodic voice says through our link and the distraction earns me a bite to the thigh.

With one earth-shaking growl, I launch myself at the smaller wolf and ram myself into him, landing him flat on the ground.

Before I can sink my teeth into him, I'm thrown off by a warrior from The Blood River Pack.

Luke comes from behind me and easily rips out his heart, killing him immediately.

Scurrying towards the injured and weak Alpha, I decide to finish this once and for all because I don't have much time.

‘Angel is in labour and she needs me, I trust you to finish the rest of these fuckers.’

I say to my pack warriors and Beta, earning a few agreements from them just before I rip off a chunk of meat from the Alpha's chest, revealing his insides.

With one last angry growl that makes everyone stop what their doing, I rip his head clean off just before pushing my paw into his chest and taking his heart out.

I take the heart in my mouth and sprint towards the infirmary where my mate is currently in labour.

Angel's POV

“You’re doing good, Luna. Just one last push and you can meet your baby girl.” Says Susan, the pack doctor.

With one last mighty push, I feel relieved just as I hear crying.

“Say hello to your baby girl, Alpha and Luna.” She says and only then do I realise that Chris is standing at the door in his wolf form with an organ in his mouth.

“Oh my God, is that a heart?” Jane asks as she takes in the heart in Chris' mouth.

She runs out into the bathroom as Chris comes further into the room.

“Alpha, please change back, you're not allowed in here...” Susan is cut off from his growl, leaving no room for further arguments.

He makes his way over to me and puts the heart at my feet on top of the bed. I swoon at the gesture and hold out my arm, indicating that I want him to get closer.

‘I love you, Christopher Watson. Meet our baby girl.’

I say through our link and see a tear falling down his face before wiping it and kissing his cheek.

Later that day...

‘Angel, one of your friends is a warrior of the Blood River Pack and she's badly hurt.’

Luke says through the link which he and I share.

‘Take her to the infirmary and I'll see her in a moment.’

I tell him before turning my attention back to my parents who are holding a light conversation with Chris.

“So big sis, what's the name of the baby?” Nicholas asks, earning a huge grin from me.

“Her name is Bridget, Bridget Amelia Watson.”

“That’s a beautiful name. So when am I getting other grandchildren?” My mom asks, making me resemble a fire truck and making Chris smile like a maniac.

“Very soon.” He says and looks at me.

“Very, very soon.”

The way he says that makes it seem like more of a promise than a thought.

“Angel, she's awake.” Luke chimes in, earning a few confused looks from everyone.

“Let’s go then.” I say before I excuse myself and make my way towards her room, following behind Luke.

“Hello, Kimberley.” I say before making my way to the chair that's next to her bed.

“Angel?”

“Yes, it's me. How are you doing?” I ask her, taking her hand in mine and rubbing comforting circles on the back of her hand.

“I’m doing good, thank you for asking.”

Suddenly she seems nervous.

“Is everything okay?” I ask her, looking confused at the way her eyes keep changing from the normal blue to the silver- grey which indicates that she smells something.

“Never better.” She breathes out before her eyes turn completely grey and she gets up from the bed.

“She smells something. Let's follow her and find out what it is.” I say as I follow suit behind her.

We make our way back to the Alpha suite and she opens the door.

Everyone looks our way and I see Nicholas’ eyes widen in amazement.

“What is she doing in here?!” Chris booms out, shaking the ground beneath us.

“She smells something.” I say in a dismissive tone.

What she says next has me starstruck and shocked.

“Mate”

Looking in the same direction that she is, my worst fear becomes a reality.

Nicholas is Kim's mate.
