Chapter 3: A Lesson Learned

After classes, we met up with Erwin, to ensure that Hanji was settling nicely. Out of everyone she talked to... Moblit was still on my mind. The science club... I guess it wouldn't be bad to join if Hanji was gonna be there. That way, I can keep a careful eye out for other people requesting to talk to her... and I'll find a way to get rid of Moblit...

Erwin was sitting down, waiting for us in the courtyard. He was too busy reading a book, but I didn't bother thinking of what it was called, or what it was about. "Erwin." I say, which awakened him.

He smiles, "So... you guys are back..."

Hanji giggles, plopping down on a bench across Erwin. I stood there, watching her. Why am I like that? I wanted to sit next to her and to take her hand... but something held me back... and I couldn't do anything.

"Yep."

"How is everything? Are you comfortable with your schedule?"

She giggles, looking up to me. It felt that it was slow-motion when she blinks... when I saw them close and open, revealing her beautiful hazel eyes. "Everything's all good. I'm gonna try and join the science club in a few minutes."

"Ah." Erwin turns his head towards me, smirking just a bit. "What about you, Levi? Is everything alright with you?"

"Tch." I shrugged my shoulders and didn't care to look him in the eyes to answer him.

He sighs, "Well... I think we're all good. See you tomorrow, Hanji." He picks his stuff up and makes his way over to his club... leaving me alone with Hanji.

Inching closer to her, I felt that... well... I should be with her. With every small movement towards her... the more I wanted to smell her hair and to touch her smooth cheek... I wanted her all to myself.

Suddenly, she stands up, smiling softly at me... how much I wanted to know how her lips tasted... "Well, I guess I'm gonna go and check in to the science club. I guess... I'll see you tomorrow-"

"Wait!" I stopped her, not knowing my next move. "I-I wanna come with you." Why are these words flowing out of my mouth like that? I can't help myself... I have to be with her... I just have to. No one else can come near her and talk to her...

"Hm? I-I thought you were already in a club... Levi."

This new persona took over my mind... like I was a different person, yet I wasn't. "No, I wasn't." No longer was I stuttering... "I didn't think I should join a club. But... maybe I might join with you."

She smiles... "Well, okay. I wouldn't mind someone joining me... especially when I know that person. I do need a guide to help me get to the science class..." 

Then... something unexpected happened... she took my hand. I felt her warmth in her hand... how nice it felt. I felt my heart beating... faster than my heart would beat when running in a gym class. The way she pulled my hand, I was standing next to her... my gripped tightened, I just had to have her.

"Ouch!" She squeals. Did I hurt her?

Immediately, I release my grip. I-I couldn't feel the pain that she felt... why can't I be a normal person?! "I-I'm sorry..." I still take her hand, but she flinched... she still decided to have her hand within mine. "I-I didn't mean to squeeze to tightly..."

She let's a small giggle lose, but carefully through her voice, I hear that she was still in pain. "D-Don't worry, Levi... I'm fine..."

Then... there was this deep pit grow in my stomach... it wasn't emotionless... as I always felt... but it would've made me cry if I was normal. "A-Are you su-"
