That night, Hanji gave me her phone number, and she told me that she was lucky... lucky to have someone like me that's always by her side... and when I watched her walk inside, I felt that emptiness return to me... where I felt nothing... but something was different this time. Instead of feeling that emptiness, I felt a gap inside me. And in that gap, I felt that Hanji should be there.

My phone started to buzz when I laid there in my bed, thinking about my life with Hanji... picking it up, I see her name on the phone. Swiping the button to answer it, I raised the phone to my ear. "Hello?" I asked into the phone, wanting to hear her sweet voice. But instead, I hear crying. "Hanji?"
"L-Levi... d-did you not watch the news?"
"No... what happened? Are you hurt?" Feeling my voice become panicky, I realized, I shouldn't be sitting on my bed... I should be at her house, holding her in my arms. "Hanji, I'm gonna come over to-"
"D-Don't bother, Levi-"
"I'm on my way, Hanji." I say, hanging up the phone.

In minutes, I was outside Hanji's house... but I didn't want to knock on the front door- no. Instead, I climbed the tree in front, then jumped onto the roof. Peaking through every window, I finally found Hanji's room.
She was sitting on the ground, her phone was on the side. The TV was on, but the sound was muffled by the window. Her hair was messy as it was down. I see the knots in her hair, and I had the urge to comb it.
"Hanji..." I say, knocking on the window to catch her attention.
When she turned, she jumped up, stepping back... only for a couple seconds. Hanji quickly rushed over to the window, opening it. "Levi... w-why?"
Jumping inside, I wrapped my arms around her, smelling her sweet scent. Once more, her hair smelled like roses... "I-I wanted to make sure that you were okay..." When I pulled back, I wiped her tears off her petite face. "What happened?"
She points to the TV, where a reporter was speaking. "Yesterday afternoon, a boy named Moblit Berner from Scout High School was reported dead on arrival. According to the police, there were 53 stab wounds on his chest and badly beaten. Police will be interviewing high school students for Moblit's last whereabouts."
"You said... that we had to do something, Levi?" Hanji asks, still tearing up. "I-I think you're the last one to see him alive... and 53 stab wounds? That must've took a lot of energy and hatred to make that many wounds..."
Hanji steps away from me, pushing my arms out of her way. "Hanji..."
"I-I didn't know... him very well... n-now... I-I kinda feel bad..."
I tugged on her arm, pulling her close. "Hanji, don't worry, okay?" My fingers combed through her hair, and my fingers got caught in her tangles... but I didn't care. I had her in my arms... I breathed in her beautiful scent... I had her... and I didn't want anyone else to have her. "Come on, we gotta head back to school. If we don't, we're gonna be late..."
She nods, "Okay... but go back through the window. My dad's gonna kill you if he sees you here." Hanji gently pushes me out the window, "I'll be down there in a minute, okay? And stay away from the windows..."
Listening to her words, I went outside, climbing the tree down, and waited out of sight... but I stayed there, watching the house. Soon, I watched her walk out in her uniform and her books were in her hands. Her speed was quick, and when her hazel eyes gazed over the neighborhood.
