You sigh and fall back onto the bed feeling absolutely awful for saying that.
A part of you knew Ashton had it coming for him though.
If he never came in the guesthouse, none of this would've happened and Calum would still be in here fixing the TV for you.
"Oh good, you brought everything in!" A chirpy voice interrupts your thoughts and you sit up to see Mrs. Irwin inviting herself in.
"How did you get everything in here? Did Valerie or Pablo help?"
"Uh, no, ma'am. One of Ashton's friends helped me."
"Ashton's friends?" She raises a brow and her tone begins to get serious which catches you off guard.
"Uh yeah? Calum I think."
"Listen," she folds her arms and sighs. "I left out a minor detail about this house. I don't want any boys in here."
"Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't know." You began to start apologizing. You hadn't even started yet and you're already doing something wrong, not to mention her oldest son already hates you.
"No, I know you didn't, sweetie. It's fine. I'll let this slide. But absolutely no boys are allowed in this guesthouse. It's a strict rule so I hope you understand."
"Yes ma'am."
She smiles and claps her hands, becoming friendly looking again.
"Alright! Well I guess I should let you know what will be going on tonight."
Does she even know about the party?
"I will be going out with my girlfriends tonight and won't return until tomorrow evening. Harry and Lauren are at their friends' houses for sleepovers this weekend. Don't worry about them tonight. However, I will need you to pick them up tomorrow probably around 2:00 maybe, I'll let you know. I'll text you. Feel free to do whatever tonight. Take the cars and please be careful! I think that's about it. Any questions?" She spoke so fast it was hard to keep up.
"I don't have your number?"
"I'll leave it on the table for you before I leave! Have fun, Y/N! I'm so glad I hired you!" She smiles and begins walking out the door.
"Wait! Uh, is Ashton still here?" You question and her face falls. She raises an eyebrow at you. You want to apologize to Ashton before he ends up trying to get you fired. This is the best paying job you've ever had and you don't want to get fired already.
"Yes, why?"
"I just want to ask him a question. That's all." You lie but she doesn't budge. Your hands began to get sweaty.
"Alright. Well, remember the no boys policy. When I said no boys, that means Ashton too."
"I'll keep that in mind."
"Okay, well I better get ready! See you tomorrow, dear." And then she was gone.
You wait until you hear her car leave before walking in the house to apologize to Ashton. You walk upstairs and hear a whole bunch a voices in Ashton's room. You bring your hand up to knock and it suddenly gets quiet in there. You hear someone mutter curse words. Probably Ashton.
The door swings open and the smell of cigarettes and cheap perfume fill your lungs. There were more people in the room than just Calum and Ashton. There was a guy with colorful spiky hair and another one with dark sunglasses and a lip ring. There was also a girl which is probably the Jasmine that Calum mentioned.
Ashton stood at the door and his face fell when he saw that it was you at the door.
"What the hell do you want?" He groans.
"I uh—"
"Oh, who's this?" The guy with the sunglasses set his guitar down and walks toward you, but Ashton pushes him away.
"No one, dude." Ashton closes the door a little so you could see only him. "The fuck do you want?" His whisper was threatening.
"I came to apologize. I shouldn't have said what I said and I'm sorry. Please don't get me fired. I need this job to help out my family."
"Come on, Ashton." Calum's voice fills the air and the door opens more and he winks at you and you ignore it and pretend not to be affected by it.
"You thought I was really going to get you fired, did you? Look, I was pissed. But I'm not gonna waste my time on you. No, I'm not going to get you fired, but apology my ass. I know you meant what you said and that's okay. It just gives me more reasons to not fucking like you."
"Dude, come on." Calum sighs.
"No, it's fine actually. Just wanted him to know I was sorry." You state and begin to walk away but someone calls you back.
"Hey wait!" It was the guy with the lipring. He ran toward the door and swung it fully open and Ashton releases an agitated groan. "Is Mrs. A gone?"
"Mrs. A?"
"Yeah, Mrs. A," he says and you still have no idea who he's talking about.
"My mother, Jesus." Ashton rolls his eyes. Oh. You forgot her first name was Anne.
"Yeah, she left a few minutes ago.." You answer and they all cheer.
You watch as Ashton leaves your presence and walks toward Jasmine. He embraces her from behind and starts kissing her neck and you had to look away.
"Dammit, dude! We need to get ready for the party." The lipring boy says to Ashton but Ashton just shrugs, not letting go of Jasmine.
"Hey, you're coming right?" Calum smiles at you.
"No she's not." Ashton interrupts.
"Oh, come on, dude." Calum whines.
"Actually, it's fine really—" you speak but are interrupted again.
"No, you're coming. Don't listen to him." Calum sends you a wink.
"Dude. It's my fucking party. I live here." Ashton whines and Calum groans.
"So does she." Calum defends me.
"Oh my god, I'm so fucking confused. Who the hell is she?" The girl finally speaks up.
"No one. She's no one." Ashton answers and you roll your eyes at him.
"She's obviously someone if she lives here." She replies.
"She's my mum's friend's daughter." Ashton lies. You've had enough of him.
"No, I'm not. I'm the nanny." You quip out and Ashton sends you a glare. If he didn't care about you then he shouldn't have lied about you.
"The nanny?" The colorful haired boy begins to laugh. The lipring boy and Jasmine join him. "You have a fucking nanny?" The colorful haired one laughs harder and Ashton kicks his drumset over and the room falls silent.
"She the fuck up! Yes, I have a fucking nanny, is there a problem?" No one answers him. "You need to fucking leave now." He tells you and you don't answer him. You were thinking the same thing. You've overstayed your welcome.
"You're still coming to the party, right?" Calum whispers to you.
"Really, Calum?! She's not coming, give it a god damn rest." Ashton began to yell. You didn't even want to go to the party.
"Dude, I don't want her to sit out there all by herself! Come on, man!" Calum still goes at it.
"Calum, please stop. I don't want to go." You didn't want Ashton to be angered anymore.
"But—"
"Come on, Calum. The little girl doesn't wanna come. Leave her alone." Jasmine mocks you and the two boys laugh as Calum frowns. Even Ashton begins to grin. Her comment didn't bother you. It was the fact that she has already started to dislike you before she even knows you that bothers you. You walked away and left.
If Ashton doesn't want you at the party, then so be it. You have stuff to put away in the guesthouse and it sounds like a better idea than smoking and getting high.
