I waited in the same spot as yesterday. Mia should be here by now. She's running late. Ten minutes later, she finally comes rushing to me, a weak smile on her face.
"Hey Andrew." she waved. My heart fluttered.
"Hey Mia." I tried to be casual. "Are you okay?"
"Hmm?" she asked, not sitting down.
"You seem flushed."
"Oh, I just forgot about meeting you here." She played with her fingers.
She's lying....
"Care to take a seat?" I asked, gesturing beside me. She seems hesitant but sat down.
"So uh..." she started, not looking at me. "How often do you come here? I never see you around."
"I just moved here." I lied.
"Oh really?" She seemed to relax. "From where?"
"Ohio."
"What makes ya come over to Illinois?"
"I had a lot of family here. I didn't like being being so far away. There was a nice art school there but it wasn't worth it. Family first ya know?"
She sighed and smiled. "Hmm. Well, welcome to Chicago."
"Thanks."
"Ya know there's also a neat art school here too."
"Yeah...I know." I trailed off. I was surprised at how well I played that off.
"Alright. So what other things do you like beside books...and drawing." She smiled, making butterflies in my stomach erupt.
"I like Supernatural."
"Bitch! The TV show?" she gasped. I nodded. "no fuckin' way me too!" I smiled. Once, she binge a whole season without barely leaving her room. I was mostly worried for her health but there wasn't much I could do about it.
"That's awesome." I replied. She nodded and smiled. She then started rambling about all her favorite TV shows and characters, then her favorite movies, all of which I already knew. But of course, I acted like it was my first time meeting her.
We ended up talking almost all day and I offered to get her Wendy's since I knew it was her favorite. She loved the frostys.
Now, I was ready to make my move while we sat on my car. She was finishing her frosty until she got a text.
She looked at it and replied to it. Once she was done she slid off and looked at me. "Hey I'm really sorry, but I gotta go."
"Again?" I tried not to snap. I was so close!
"Yeah. My friend Hannah, the one who broke her leg yesterday, she asked me to take care of her. She's already home so I gotta blast."
"But..." my throat tightened. I was getting hyped for nothing.
"I'm sorry, Andrew. I'll see you around ok?" I bit the inside of my cheek so hard. I just wanted to pounce on her and take what's mine already. But if I take her now Hannah will get suspicious and I'll get in trouble.
I sighed and nodded. "Alright. Be safe." she nodded too and she got into her car, driving off. Once she was gone, I jumped off my car and started swearing into he sky. Stupid Hannah! That fucking bitch! I could've had her...
I ran my fingers through my short, dark brown hair to calm myself. I'll just have to wait some more...but to be honest I was started to get very impatient...
Mia
I stepped into Hannah's house, locking the door. "Hamster?" I called.
"Kitchen." she replied. I walked in to see her on the counter, stuffing her face with sandwiches. "So how'd the date go?" she asked nonchalantly.
"It wasn't a date." I narrowed my eyes. "But it was fine. Turns out you were right, he was just smart. He says he just moved here from Ohio for family."
"What a big sweetheart. Sounds like a keeper."
"I'm not dating him." I growled and she laughed, spraying crumbs. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. I snuck over there, ninja style and peeked through the hole.
I had to get on my tippy toes to see. A smile spread on my face when I saw a familiar person. I unlocked the door and there stood Miller.
"Mia!" he smiled. "what are you doing here?"
"I could ask the same." I replied, shutting and locking the door behind him.
"Hannah invited me over," he shrugged. "glad to know you got the invite."
"She invited me first hot stuff." I folded my arms and smiled at him.
"Watch out," he put his hands up. "we got a badass over here." I punched his arm and made my way back to Hannah. Miller followed behind me and leaned against the counter.
"Hey...weren't you eating when you called me?"
"Oh shut up." she swallowed, wiping her face.
"Damn, did they deprive you of food at the hospital?" he chuckled.
"No their food is just gross. I didn't want any." she huffed.
"It's been a day." I reminded. She shot a look at me.
"What are we waiting for?" she snapped. "let's pop a movie in already."
***
We all sat on the couch, lights off and popcorn out. We were watching a scary movie. Miller was digging into the fuckin popcorn, eating almost half of it by himself so I just let him have the bowl.
I was zoning out halfway through the movie. I was getting tired. As I leaned back on the couch, I turned to look out the window and I swear I saw someone...
No, it was just this stupid movie. I stood up and Miller looked at me. "I'm hitting the hay." I kissed my two fingers and placed it on Millers cheek and he kissed my hand In reply. I walked over to Hannah, who was asleep, and kissed her forehead. It's what we do. Friendship kisses.
I went to Hannah's room and changed into her pj's. It still angered me that her clothes were a little tight on me. I rolled out her second bed from underneath and snagged a pillow off her bed, taking a blanket too.
It wasn't long before I fell asleep.
