12. two last people in the night

Odasaku and (Y/N) started to get on well pretty quickly, but, to be honest, after finishing a couple of cups of sake, I wasn't sure anymore if it was good or bad.

Because the reason why they warmed up to each other so quickly was because they were having a conversation about me.

"I can't believe that Dazai was already like this when he was 14!" (Y/N) exclaimed

"Dazai has always been closed and rational." Odasaku replied "When I just met him, he was even colder than he is now. It took me a very long time to get his trust and then become his friend."

"Odasaku, you're exaggerating. I wasn't that cold and closed." I said, obviously hinting him to not tell all this to (Y/N)

"You were actually." He answered, continuing this embarrassing conversation "I'm not exaggerating at all."

I sighed and poured some more sake in my cup, drinking it all in one go.

"It seems like Dazai doesn't really like it, when people are talking about him too much." (Y/N) said "Let's talk about something else until he didn't get drunk~"

I leaned closer to (Y/N) for a single second to say just 2 simple words:

"Thank you~" I whispered, accidentally touching her ear with my lips as I was talking

When I pulled away after an instant, I noticed how her cheeks were pink already as she herself looked somewhat shocked. She lifted her eyes to look at me as if I did something very inappropriate or even stupid, what only made me confused even more.

What was the reason for such a reaction? Did I embarrass her that much? I only whispered 2 words in her ear, this wasn't something extraordinary. Was she so embarrassed because of the closeness? It's rather unusual too because (Y/N) wasn't even this embarrassed after we kissed.

"Is everything alright?" Odasaku asked "You two are suddenly so quiet."

"Everything's alright." (Y/N) replied, smiling softly at my friend "Sorry."

"Don't apologize." He said

Odasaku was about to say something else, but suddenly he looked at the clock, that was hanging on the wall and stood up.

"Oh it's quite late already." He said "I didn't even notice how fast the time passed, but sadly I have to go now. I have a mission early in the morning and I'll have to wake up at 6 am to get where I need to be on time. I'm afraid, I have to go."

"We can meet again soon then~" I replied "I'm sure, that (Y/N) would love to see you again too."

"Dazai's right~" (Y/N) added "I'd indeed love to see you again~ You're a very interesting person to talk to~"

"I was happy to meet you, (Y/N)." Odasaku smiled softly at her "Thank you for introducing us, Dazai."

After that, we exchanged "goodbye"s and Odasaku left, leaving (Y/N) and me alone in the bar.

That's when the atmosphere, that was very relaxing and calming, while Odasaku was here, suddenly became awkward because none of us knew what to talk about. Plus, (Y/N) seemed to still be embarrassed because of what happened and I was still confused.

That's why I decided, that, perhaps, the best idea for a conversation would simply be asking her about what was on my mind.

"Why are you so shy all of a sudden?" I asked her "After I whispered those words to you, you started behaving so oddly."

(Y/N) blushed again and looked away from me.

"You were so close..." She mumbled quietly, but I was still able to hear what she was saying "You leaned to me, I felt your breath on my ear and neck and you even touched my ear with your lips...Because of that, shivers rolled down my spine."

"So...you were so embarrassed because of the closeness?" I blinked "But what about that time, when we kissed? You weren't that shy back then."

"That was different, Dazai. That was just a pleasant kiss...but whispering so closely to me was somewhat...intimate, I guess." She explained

I couldn't help, but smirk at her words. Perhaps, I was already a little drunk so that I was more laid back, than usually, and I wrapped my hand around her shoulders to pull her closer to me. Surprisingly, (Y/N) didn't even seem to mind that since she didn't protest or tense because of my actions, but instead, she just went along with them, moving closer to me herself and blushing again.

"Say, (Y/N)~" I whispered in her ear again "You're not so embarrassed because you're having some inappropriate thoughts, right~?"

"Dazai!" She exclaimed as her face flushed "You're drunk!"

"Maybe just a little~" I replied "But you didn't answer my question~"

"No, I'm not thinking about such stuff, pervert." She replied, frowning a little and moving my cup of sake away from me at the same time "Dazai, you can be such an idiot sometimes. You ruined such a calm atmosphere."

She relaxed in my hug suddenly and even leaned her head on my shoulder, yawning. It seemed like alcohol spread in her body too or she was simply tired, but it didn't even matter much. What mattered more was that it seemed like the only reason why she didn't move closer to me before was because Odasaku was here, but now that he was gone, she could enjoy my closeness and the smell of my cologne as much as she wanted.

"You know, that you're the only person, who can call me an idiot?" I chuckled "If someone from my subordinates did that, they would no longer be able to walk."

"Am I special to you~? " (Y/N) asked, inhaling my smell and smiling

"You only noticed it now?" I chuckled "Of course, you are. You're my friend."

"Do you also kiss your friends though~?" She asked

"You're my special friend." I corrected myself, brushing her hair gently as I added quietly "A special friend, who makes me feel like a human again. A friend, who makes me feel alive."

(Y/N) didn't reply anything after that as she only wrapped her hands around my waist, hugging me too.

It felt as if we were the last people in the whole world.

We stayed in each other's embrace, surrounded by a comforting silence, while I was playing with her hair and while she was listening to my heartbeat, which was probably faster than usual. We were hugging each other in a desperate way to fill the lonely holes in our hearts, that we both had, with each other's presence and warmth. She kept nuzzling into my chest more and more, while I was also pulling her closer to me.

I wondered, what was she thinking about?

"Dazai..." (Y/N) whispered suddenly "I promise, that I will always by your side. I promise, that I will always be your special friend, who will continue making you feel alive again. And I promise, that I will make you happy one day...You gave me something, that has always been an unreachable luxury for me and that was the feeling of safety and care. Now, it's time for me to thank you."

Now, it was my turn not to reply because my tightened grip on her shoulders, probably, said more words, that my voice could ever say.

Your crazy author-chan decided that he wanted more events in bungo mayoi and downloaded the Japanese version XD yes, it's crazy to only do it now and not earlier but tbh I'm glad that I played the English version at first bc it's easier for me now to understand the game.

I was just kinda expecting more from the English version XD

But I'm happy with the Japanese one XD I already got SSR Dazai and SSR Odasaku from that event (I scouted one time and I got Odasaku XD that's crazy to me bc when I scouted for that kimono event in the English version, I didn't get any event cards after 7 times of scouting)
