Jungkook's POV

"Yes I have vampiric powers, we do have enhanced speed and strength and um," I paused briefly, biting my lip in contemplation of how to continue, "you are a hybrid, but unfortunately I have no idea what you are."

My breath caught in my throat after hearing Roxana tell me that she didn't know what I was. How was I supposed to get through this reality with no idea what I even am? "Is there a way for me to find out what I am?"

"Unfortunately until you emerge, there is no way of telling." She looked at me with a sadness in her eyes. Trying to wrap my head around this, I decided to dig for as much information as I could.

"What else can you tell me? Tell me everything." The last bit of what I said, was said with more force than I wanted to use, causing her to widen her eyes a bit and to bite her lip again, I wish she'd stop that.

"Well, I already told you where we are, but not why we are here so I'll begin there. A while back, once the existence of hybrids was discovered, the world fell into chaos, feeling the need to eliminate us before we could become a threat. A man named Adolf Hitler came into power in Germany and proceeded to try and wipe us and the Jewish out all in one hard swoop. He also had a doctor, Josef Mengele, experiment on hybrids, trying to find ways to kill each species and allowed him to experiment on twin children on the side. This was called the Holocaust, the humans only knew of the things done to the Jewish as the hybrid part was kept a secret. After the Holocaust ended and hybrids still existed, the factions around the world realized they couldn't completely wipe us out, so instead they would control us. They built Noctem Academy to train hybrids to be their own elite weapon and to control us." She then leaned forward and touched the center of my collarbone lightly with her fingers, bringing my attention back to the ache that resided there. I looked down and saw her pale hand against my tanner skin and flushed at her touch. She removed her hand and I noticed slight bruising and swelling on my collarbone and looked up at her in confusion. She then took my hand gently and pulled down her sweatshirt enough to show her collarbone, face turning a bright red as she did so. She led my hand to the center of her collarbone and gently pushed my hand against it. All embarrassment forgotten on my part as I felt a small bump that should not be there. I looked up at her in shock.

"They implant us with a chip once we arrive here, to track us and kill us if we step out of line. It combusts at the touch of a button." There was fear in her stormy eyes now as all the color drained from her face. I felt oddly protective over her at this moment but quickly pushed that feeling away.

"Okay that's a lot to take in," I stated as I removed my hand from her collarbone and rubbed at mine gently, "why can't I remember anything from before coming here?"

"That I can't really tell you, no one remembers their lives before Noctem. We all wake up with memory loss."

"How did they know I was a hybrid if I haven't emerged yet? What if I'm actually human and they just made a mistake?" She looked at me sadly.

"They know because of our blood, there is a specific strain in our blood that makes us hybrids, until we emerge the strain looks the same for all hybrids but does not exist in humans. Once you emerge your strain will adapt to what you are. All they have to do is a blood test to determine if you are a hybrid."

"Okay, is there no way to determine when I will emerge? Or a way to make it happen faster?"

"Unfortunately there isn't, it happens on its own. Mine happened when," she stuttered over her words briefly, "well when I was attacked by a rogue hybrid. He threatened to hurt my fr-well threatened to hurt someone if I didn't comply. I got so mad that I saw red and next thing I know, I emerged." She stopped looking at me at this point and looked down at her hands, which were fidgeting with the sleeves of her sweatshirt. I wondered at why she seemed so sad but did not ask, not wanting to push too hard.

"Okay well why were you in the infirmary when I woke up?"

"Oh I was waiting for my friend Kai, that's where we meet after classes are done for the day," she muttered distractedly. After about a minute her head snapped up and her eyes grew wide, "Shit, Kai! Oh, she's gonna be so mad at me! Quick, come on, let's go before I'm any later!" Forgetting any sadness that she had before, she grabbed my hand, shot up, opened the door and pulled me out with her, racing back to the infirmary. We got into the infirmary only to be greeted by a girl, arms folded, with long, flaming red hair and bright emerald green eyes. Her eyes were slightly tilted up on the sides and currently narrowed and honed in on me and Roxana's intertwined hands. Roxana seemed to notice our still intertwined hands at the same moment I did and glanced at our hands, promptly letting go of my hand. She looked back up at the girl with a flaming blush on her cheeks.

"Um hi Kai, I'm sorry I'm late, I was helping the new guy, this is Jungkook, Jungkook this is Kai." Kai then looked at me with a narrowed gaze, standing next to Roxana. Her gaze bouncing back between the two of us had heat creeping into my cheeks. I extended my hand towards her, "Nice to meet you."

She cocked her head and looked at my outstretched hand momentarily before flicking her gaze to Roxana. After glancing at Roxana she rolled her eyes briefly and took my hand, shaking it roughly. "I'm Kai, as Rox stated before, how did she meet you?"

A little put off by her apparent dislike of me, I answered slowly. "I woke up in here while Roxana was waiting for you or so she said, she helped me cope with everything." I glanced briefly at Roxana, a thankful expression in my eyes. Roxana met my eyes and looked away quickly.

"Call me Rox please, Roxana is too formal."

"Okay Rox," I smiled tentatively at her. She met my eyes and after smiling at her, her eyes widened a small bit and she smiled back, showing faint dimples in either cheek.

Kai's eyes narrowed even more than they already were and she quickly grabbed Rox's hand and began to pull her out of the infirmary. "Nice to meet you Kook, but we gotta go, say bye Rox." My hands seemed to have a mind of their own as I reached out and grabbed Rox's other hand, stopping her from leaving, which stopped Kai with her.

It's slowly picking up 😊
