Rox's POV
"I'm Roxana, but you can call me Rox. I don't know your past Jungkook but I can tell you where you are, you are at Noctem Academy, a place for hybrids."
Jungkook appeared to be struggling to keep a straight face at this point. His lips were quivering at the corners, as if trying to stop himself from laughing at my statement. His large, doe eyes that appeared black at first now showed hints of a dark brown as his amusement showed from his eyes. His skin still flushed from the position we unwittingly ended up in earlier. I flushed more than I already had been remembering the position we had been in and how close I had been to the newest hybrid here at Noctem.
"What exactly is a hybrid then?", he asked with amusement filling his tone.
"A hybrid is a human and supernatural offspring, such as a demon and a human having a child, that child would be a hybrid. That's what this place is for, to train hybrids, like me and you." My voice got quieter and quieter with this explanation as he was staring at me incredulously.
"You're saying you're a hybrid and what's even funnier, that I am as well," he let out a sarcastic laugh, "you can't honestly think I'll believe this right? Whatever joke you are playing on me, I'd appreciate it if you'd stop and tell me what is actually going on." He was angry at this point, that much was clear. The rate of his breathing increased and was making his chest appear to heave in the low cut, white t-shirt he had been wearing. His eye brows slashed harshly downward above his eyes and caused lines to bunch up between them, showing his frustration. I fought the urge to shrink back in fear at his height and angry demeanor. What type of hybrid he was, I didn't know but just knowing that he was one and I had managed to piss him off, did not bode well for me. His eyes flashed in impatience at the fact that I had not spoken again. I unknowingly flinched back from him at this point and saw his eyes soften once he noticed my unease.
"Please just tell me the truth, where am I and what am I doing here?"
"I am not lying to you, you really are a hybrid, as am I and this really is Noctem Academy." He appeared frustrated again at my answer.
"Fine, if you won't be honest with me, then I will find someone who will be." He stalked to the door with anger evident in his demeanor and ripped the door open, stalking out into the hallways of the academy. With a panicked feeling I rushed after him, afraid of what he might encounter and what he might do when he encountered it.
Jungkook's POV
I opened the door and left the room, leaving Roxana behind me as I went in search of the answers I needed. The hallways were crowded and full of people that appeared amused at my sudden appearance. Everything seemed like a normal academy until I saw something that shocked me to my core. A student, small and meek looking, his hair was shaggy and unkempt, glasses sliding down his nose, hunching over his books as if trying to appear invisible. Which he would have succeeded at if it weren't for the goat legs that replaced where his human ones should have been. Upon closer inspection I could see two small horns tangled in his messy hair as he rushed past me with a mumbled, "excuse me.", almost running over my bare feet with his hooves. Yes, I said that correctly, hooves. Until now I had not noticed that I was only wearing a low cut, white t-shirt and light blue scrubs for pants. This seemed to be the easier thing to focus on rather than what I had just witnessed. I stood frozen, unable to move as people shoved past me, trying to get to their destinations. I felt a small body push against me and push me into what appeared to be a cleaning closet of sorts. To shocked to fight it, I numbly let myself be pushed into the closet. The dark closet was filled with a labored breathing and quickly illuminated with light as the person flicked on the light switch. Noticing it was Roxana, my shock eased just a little bit until she turned towards me. Replacing the beautiful blue and gold eyes that she once had, were now blood red eyes framed by her dark lashes. The look of concern in her red eyes seemed wrong, mixed with the color they were, as I flinched backwards away from her. I felt my back hit what I thought was shelving and ending my attempt to get away from the girl in front of me. She looked hurt for a moment and then backed up herself, putting her back against the door and wrapping one arm around herself while using her other hand to cover her mouth.
"Are you alright?"
I could not bring myself to answer her just yet as my breathing was still labored and my heart throbbing. Her eyes widened a bit and she turned her back to me, appearing to talk quietly to herself. When she turned back to me her eyes had returned to their normal colors of blue and gold. The knot inside me loosened and I felt my knees give out underneath me. Roxana rushed to me and knelt next to me, fluttering her hands around me as if wanting to help but not knowing how. Not caring that I had just met her or what I had just seen from her, I reached forward and pulled her against me, resting my head on her shoulder and wrapping my arms around her waist. She froze in my arms and then after a moment tentatively wrapped her arms around my shoulders. In that moment of being held by a stranger, in a cleaning closet, in an academy filled with hybrids, I broke.
This story may be starting off slow and I'msorry for that but it will pick up, I promise.
