Four weeks later...
"Why do you keep bringing me here?" I groan as Carlos drags me into the library, my hand in his warm one.
He's been bringing me to the library during lunch since Monday and I'm getting tired of it. Maybe it should be my turn to drag him somewhere, like hell.
"Because, I'm curious." He shrugs.
"Of what?"
"You. Ever since that day you punched Clara. No one's ever done that."
"It's not hard." I shrug.
"I know that." He mutters. "But no one's ever done that. No one's ever talked to her like that or dared to look her in the eyes like that. But you did." I roll my eyes.
"I just don't think Clara is scary, she doesn't scare me like she does with other people. Because I'm not stupid, I don't fall for her tricks. Though her makeup may be frightening, she doesn't scare me. And I also don't fall for your tricks, Carlos." I tell him.
He opens his mouth to say something when there's an odd sound coming from the ceiling. I look up at it, listening to the creak and thud sounds, watching dust rain down from it. What in the world is happening up there?
When I spot a dent, I lunge at Carlos, pushing both of us out of the way as we land on the floor. Thankfully I moved us because if I didn't we would've been crushed by the tiles that crashed down.
I look down at Carlos, my eyes wide as I realize I'm on top of him. Feeling awkward, I roll off of him and jump up.
We both stare at the pile of white dust and distorted ceiling tiles on the floor, then notice a man laying the clutter.
Is that...? No way! Haha!
The guy lifts his head up and I can see his face, so I can confirm. Oh my god it is him!
I don't even try to hold it in as I fall down and break into a fit of uncontrollable laughter.
"What's so funny about someone falling out of the ceiling?" Carlos asks looking at me, but once he hears it come out of his mouth he realizes why I'm laughing and joins me. Everything about someone falling out of a ceiling is funny. No. It's hysterical.
"What do you mean why is that so funny?" I shake my head at him. "And it's Adam, that just makes it a thousand times more hilarious! Adam just fell through the freaking ceiling!" I wheeze as my eyes start watering.
Adam slowly pushes himself up, grunting, and brushes himself off.
"Please, Adam, please do that again." I beg, wiping the tears from my eyes.
"No. That hurt." He winces.
A realization pops up in my head as I jump up to my feet.
"Hey Adam, there were probably spiders up there." I point out and he tenses as he takes this in.
"What? Is there one on me?" He starts panicking, turning to try to see his back.
I walk under the hole in the ceiling and jump up, grabbing the rim of the hole and pull myself in.
"Sadie, what are you doing?" Carlos asks but I ignore him.
Got one.
I jump down from the ceiling, holding the furry thing in my hands behind my back as I walk up to Adam.
"Adam, I got a present for you." I sing, grinning from ear to ear. "Close your eyes." He hesitates before closing his eyes. Why does he trust me? He shouldn't trust me. He knows me better than anyone.
