Something bright shining into my eyes woke me up, irritating me. It's like someone decided to shine a light into my eyes. When I open them, I realize it's the sun coming from a large window. That's not my window. This isn't my room. Where am I? I look over and see Carlos laying beside me and I jump. What the. Where's my shirt?! Why would he have his shirt on but I don't?! Wait. Why would he be laying in a bed with me- actually never mind, it's Carlos. But what the heck is going on here!
I sit up and start to roll off the bed when Carlos wraps his arms around my waist and pulls me to him.
"You tried to kill me last night," he murmurs, laying his head on my neck. Hmm, I wonder why?
"Let go of me." I growl. He doesn't. I tug his arms off of me and sit up again, swinging my legs over the side of the bed. My pants are gone too?! I'm just glad I have my undergarments on and that Carlos is still fully dressed. I think. I lift up the blanket and look at his legs which have jeans covering them.
"Trying to peek?" He chuckles and I drop the blanket.
"No. I'm making sure you have your clothes on." I say. All of a sudden, I start feeling exhausted and light headed.
He stretches his arms above his head and I see red paint on them. "Why are your arms red? What is that?" I ask, not seeing why it would be paint.
"What do you mean?" He yawns. I look at the spot I was laying in and see a huge red stain on it.
"Carlos?" I ask.
"Yeah?" He looks at me.
"Is that blood?" I point to it and he looks at it as his eyes widen. He sits up and scoots away from it.
"I think so." He says, then cringes. "Eww, you're on your- " he pauses, his eyes dropping down to my body, tensing.
"What?" I ask.
"Sadie, your stomach..." Worry fills his voice. I slowly look down, finding a long red line, oozing with red paint. Yeah, no, that's not paint.
"How did this happen?!" I shout. He stands up and walks over to me and stands there for a while, like he's thinking.
"Last night. When you were about to kill me I took the knife away from you and tossed it on the ground. It must've cut your stomach." He runs his hand through his black hair. What is he talking about? I suddenly lose interest in whatever we were talking about as my shoulders droop and I fall back into the bed, frowning.
"That's a lot of blood." He looks at the stain on the bed. "We need to get you to the hospital." He declares, examining my cut.
"I'm fine." I shake my head, finding my dress on the floor. I pick it up and slip it on, putting my shoes on as well. I start walking to the door but my legs start wobbling before I collapse to the floor.
"Sadie!" Carlos shouts running over to me. "I-It's bleeding through your dress!" He panics. I look down and realize my dress now has blood seeping through it. Carlos pulls off his shirt and balls it up.
"What are you doing?" I ask.
"Trying to keep anymore blood from coming out." He helps me stand up and presses his shirt against my stomach. "Ready?" He asks and I nod. He opens the door and we walk out, stunned when we see people are all gathered around us whispering things to each other, eyeing Carlos's abs, and saying things like, "They slept together," "They're dating," and, "Carlos Colby is dating that nerd girl".
"Move." Carlos barks at them as he walks me towards the stairs. I take one step down and feel sharp pain shoot through my stomach making me wince. He holds the shirt against me with his left hand and puts his right arm under my legs and scoops me up.
"Hold onto me, ok?" He orders and I wrap my arms around his neck as he carries me down the stairs.
We get outside and he starts walking. What feels like five minutes go by and he's still walking. "Are you walking to the hospital?" I groan.
"No, I cant find my car." He mutters and I sigh. This guy...
He finds it and sets me in the passengers seat while he gets in the drivers seat before speeding off. Literally speeding.
"You're a gang leader, don't you deal with this kind of stuff all the time?" He asks.
"I haven't lost this much blood in a while." I explain.
"How long?"
"I don't know." I shake my head, frowning again as I lean my head against the window, trying to get memories out of my mind. "Seven years."
"Wow." He whistles.
We finally arrive at the hospital and he runs me inside. I get laid down on a bed and doctors do something with my body while Carlos is somewhere. I look around the room, suddenly feeling relaxed and light. Why am I flying? I bring my hand up to my face and wave it around, giggling. It looks so blurry and fuzzy.
I spot Carlos standing in the corner of the room, watching me worriedly, his nails between his teeth. I wave to him with a smile. He doesn't smile back though and fidgets with his fingers nervously. I look at the doctors who are swarming around me like a bunch of bees.
"Buzz buzz." I say and giggle. I poke one doctors nose and say, "Boop." He ignores me and keeps working. Why are they so busy? Busy people are boring.
Spots fill my vision everywhere I look, even when I blink they come back. They look fuzzy. Eventually they start growing darker and darker as i feel lighter and lighter. I look at Carlos and he looks even more panicked.
"Hi Carlos." I say but it sounds slow and slurred. The fuzzy spots finally turn completely black, leaving me to see nothing but blackness. The last thing I got to see was Carlos's giant blue bug eyes before I felt nothing.
