Alex was walking towards Cathy's to buy coffee for his parents and a cookie for himself when he say Robert and Gabriela. He noticed Gabriela's hand on top of Robert's and she had a sympathetic look, but not the sincere kind. 'Seriously, I really don't like her, there's something... off about her, if only I could put my finger on it...', he thought.
Alex went over to talk to his best friend and sort things out, but before he could even speak, Gabriela got up and got all over his face, her honey-brown eyes reminding him a lot of Roberts.
"Get away from him you two-timing jerk!"
"What do you...? Did you tell her?" Alex asked, turning towards Robert who wouldn't look him in the eyes.
"Yes, he did. Right now, Robert trust me a lot more than he does you. So back off!", she answered for Robert, which made Alex hate her more, 'who does she think she is?', he thought.
"I'm sure he can speak for himself, and who do you think you are anyways? This has nothing..."
"Can you guys calm down you are attracting to much attention ad giving me a headache", Robert interrupted, and to Alex he said with a blank expression, "What do you want?"
"I need to talk to you", he answered using the code they had made for each other when they had to talk seriously, and alone, he raised both eyebrows but kept a serious face.
"Ten minutes" he answered getting up and walking towards Alex only to be stopped.
"Are you sure?" Gabriela asked, grabbing Robert's hand.
He nodded and they went outside, Alex ignoring the death glares Gabriela was ending his direction, led Robert to the bus stop benches.
"What you want to talk about?" asked Robert, avoiding his gaze yet again.
"What were you doing with Gabriela?" Alex asked, though his eyes asked another question. Finally meeting his gaze, Alex noticed he was right, they both had the same honey-brown eyes and smiles. Although, Robert has light brown hair and Gabriela's is ginger, they could pass for brothers, but he dismissed the thought as soon as it formed. Wondering how noticed now, he waited for Robert to answer.
"She called me here, said she needed to talk. When I finally got here, Gabriela was crying in a corner. We talked for a while and then she told me why she was crying. Because she had noticed my change in mood, and kept asking, I had to tell her what happened. Don't worry I didn't tell her about your secret or the prophesy, I just told her that I found out I'm adopted on my birthday and that all you guys knew before me, and I told her about thinking you and Liz had a thing for each other" he finished with a sigh.
Blinking the shock out of his eyes, Alex answered, "Thanks man, and sorry about not telling you, I would've if I was allowed to but... I also didn't want this happen, you got to understand that. My life hasn't been normal and I wanted things, at least something, to be normal."
"It's ok, I didn't know it was that hard on you. What did you mean when you said a 'normal life'? I'm still confused are you with Lexi or is it that you like Liz?"
"No, I'm not with Lexi, at least not yet and no, I don't like Liz that way. What I mean when I say 'not a normal life' is because my parents told me the truth and since then have trained me and expect a lot of me."
"Good to know I still have a chance with Liz."
"Really? I just told you things I've never told anyone and that's all you have to say!"
"Sorry man, just trying to keep things normal", Robert defended with a smile, which Alex returned, causing both of them to laugh.
"Thanks, we should get back to Gabriela, we kept her waiting long enough."
Alex was so happy to know that, no matter what, if it was meant it would find its way back to you. That's how he sees his friendship with Robert, as something that will last.
It didn't take long to find Gabriela, she was fighting Liz and the twins in the middle of Cathy's.
"I found her... and Liz, and April, and Lexi..." said Alex, motioning to where they're fighting.
Gabriela and Liz were at each other's throats, not literary, while they twins tried to hold them back and calm everyone around them. Alex admired the way Lexi looked, her honey hair in a ponytail, showing of her hazel eyes. She looked like a warrior, dressed in a white loose shirt, black jeans, and black/white sneakers. Her sister April was wearing a similar outfit, but with a green shirt and blue jeans. Alex noticed that Liz's yellow shirt and Gabriela's blue stripped shirt had a few holes.
Alex and Robert ran up to them, to help the twins, Robert went to April who had Gabriela, and Alex towards Lexi who had Liz. They manage to separate them, guiding each outside, leaving April to apologize to the clerk. Once outside, Robert turned to Gabriela and said, "What the hell?!? The moment I leave you to talk to Alex and you decide to start World War 3!!!"
"It wasn't my fault! She started it", she defended, pointing a guilty finger at Liz.
All at once, the girls started to tell their side of the story on what happened earlier. Alex took the chance and grabbed Lexi's to get her attention. He was really nervous, so he mustered all his courage and looked at Lexi.
"Hey I need to tell you something?"
"Sure, what is it?”She asked curiously.
"I... do you want to be my girlfriend?” Alex asked looking down.
"...Yes!" Lexi answered excited and hugged Alex. He returned the hug, forgetting the others who stood by watching with knowing faces.
"Congrats guys! I'm so happy for you!” said Liz.
"Thanks", they answered at the same time, looked at each other and laughed.
Suddenly Alex leaned down and kissed Lexi on the cheek, catching her by surprise.
"W-w-what?" she stammered, smiling goofily at Alex, 'man I can't get over that smile'.
"This is nice and all but I have to go." To Robert she added, "Can you take me home?"
"Ah... Sure, see you guys later. And congrats you two, I knew it was just a matter of time", Robert added.
"Thanks”, said Alex, Lexi and Gabriela at the same time. Gabriela adding," for everything."
"No problem, well we should get going."
As they were leaving, Alex turned to the others, grabbed Lexi's hand, and said “Can I steal Lexi for a while?"
"Sure", answered April.
"Later guys", he said and they made their way to Cathy's.
