"Lucille?" I ask, looking at her and then at Paul.
"I'm sorry, darling. I forgot I invited her..." Paul says, tapping his foot and walking over to the table with me.
I look at Lucille. She smiles and brings her attention towards us. Something about her stare nerves me. She still wants Paul - I can tell.
"Congratulations, Paul." Lucille says, standing up and hugging him.
I stiffen as Paul lets go of her.
"Thanks." Paul says, holding my hand tighter. I remove it from his grip. Lucille shouldn't have come. I've already sick of her face.
"So, are you guys going to have kids or something?" Lucille asks, a smirk playing on her face.
"I'm going to get something to drink." I say, walking toward the drinks area. I spot John and Ringo and smile. I needed to get out of there. Paul can handle her on his own.
"Hello boys." I say, acting posh as I order a cocktail.
"Hello, Carol." John eyes me in my dress and continues to stare. I clear my throat slightly.
"You aren't being crude to me today." I tease. John laughs a little and fixes his hair.
"I'm past that. You're part of the family now, I'm afraid." I smile a little as his remark.
"You look wonderful Carol." Ringo says. "If you're not too busy I'd like to introduce Maureen."
"Oh no, I'm not busy." I say, turning around to see a girl with black hair and a smile.
"Hello, I'm Maureen. I'm Ringo's wife and I'll be joining you and Cynthia on the tour." I shake her hand and smile. She seems lovely.
"I don't want to appear rude and all... but are you pregnant like Paul said?" I ask, chuckling a bit.
"I am. Although, I'm not due soon." Maureen looks down a little as she speaks. She must be nervous.
"Congratulations!" I say, smiling and patting her back.
"Congratulations to you. You're married now." Maureen laughs, and I join her.
"Carol, do you have a minute?" I hear a rough voice ask and I turn around to see George.
"Oh yes, sorry. I'll talk to you guys later." I say, suddenly realizing how casual I sound.
George smiles and leads me outside to a bench and I follow.
"Sorry, its just too stuffy in there." George says, and I nod. It is loud and all. I'm surprised no press has followed us out here.
"I understand. So, what's the matter?" I ask, afraid that reporters may come again.
"Nothing really. I just wanted to see you again." George says and I smile. I like George's company a whole lot. He's got the kind of charm only the good have.
"Alright. Paul invited Lucille, you know." I say, looking down but laughing.
"Really? I'm sure you're just over thinking things." George says. I nod my head to reassure him that I'm not upset.
"You're right. Paul said he wanted me drunk tonight so I'm going to have to drink, I suppose. Care to help?" I say, drinking my cocktail in one shot.
"Just be careful Carol." George says as he wipes my mouth.
"Let's get some more." I say, standing up but George pulls me down.
"Take it slow, would you? You don't want to make a fool out of yourself tonight." I look at George oddly and pout.
