"One second, love." Paul kisses my cheek and opens the door. I wonder who knocked on the door at this time of night."Paul, I don't know what to do." John says, and I turn around to face him. He enters the room without regard for the time or place, and I quickly stand up to join him and Paul at the door.
"What's wrong?" Paul says, as John covers his mouth, gently stroking it as his eyes meet mine. I quickly look away because they intimidate me very much. I always thought John had a certain roughness to him that I couldn't really explain. I smile to comfort him and he touches my arm. My eyes meet his again and smiles.
"Julian is really sick. Cynthia said all day he's been throwing up. He's gotta go to the hospital."
Despite answering Paul's question, John continues to look at me. For a quick moment, I feel his stare on my body, and I shift uncomfortably.
"Is he there yet?" Paul says, grabbing his coat and putting his shoes on.
"Not yet. Cynthia doesn't know how serious it is and-"
"Let's go, Paul. We have to take him." I say, slipping my outdoor wear on and looking at John.
"Don't be worried. He might have eaten something bad." I say, stroking John's arm as he stares at me. God, I can't keep my composure around him and I move my hand away timidly.
"Carol and I will take him. You and Cynthia tell the others." Paul says, grabbing my hand as he closes the door and locks it. I hold it tighter as John nods, walking away from the two of us. We head into Cynthia's room, as she's sitting on the bed Julian is laying on.
"Paul!" Cynthia says, running over to him and hugging him. He holds her close, as he stares at me, motioning for me to get Julian. I feel slightly jealous, but shake my head. Cynthia is family and family help each other out. I move towards Julian and kneel down to speak to him.
"Julian, we have to go to the hospital." I say, silently so that Cynthia doesn't overhear. I smile as I caress his hair. He's rather pale.
"I'm scared." Julian says, as he holds onto my hand. I shake my head and smile wider.
"Scared of what? A stomachache?" I laugh, causing Julian to chuckle. "You probably just ate something bad."
Julian nods and slowly stands up. I proceed to carry him on my back, as he looks weak and unwell.
"Cynthia, do you want to come with me and Paul?" I ask, as she lets go of Paul and turns to face me.
"Where's John?" She asks, as Paul grabs Julian from me, heading downstairs. I close the door behind me and Cynthia as she shakes. I console her by holding her close, and we begin to walk behind Paul.
"He went to tell the others what's going on."
After a short walk to the nearest medical center, Paul and I are in the waiting room. Cynthia went in with Julian as the doctor proceeds to take x rays and such.
"Quite a night, huh?" Paul asks, exhaustion in his voice as I place my arm around him. It's 2 in the morning and Paul rests his head on mine. Our eyes meet quickly, and I know how exactly how he is feeling. I begin to hug him closely. I feel his hands grip my dress as he cries silently. I know he's scared and I begin to run my hands through his hair. I feel his body shake under me, and I hold him closer. His head is buried in my neck.
I never really noticed how much the boys care for Julian. It seems to me that Paul sees him as some sort of son...
"Don't worry, Paul. Everything will work out." I say softly, smiling as I caress him. He nods softly as he slowly brings his hands behind me to hold me closer. I feel shivers as he does. I'm scared, and nothing else in the world can comfort me like he does.
"Where's Julian?"
I slowly turn my head towards George, who's panting and sweating. He must have ran here.
"In the room." I say, slightly letting go of Paul as he sits back in his chair.
Paul quickly wipes his eyes, looking away from George as he speaks.
"All we can do is wait." Paul says, and I nod. George sits next to me, as he shakes his leg. He's scared too, but I can't hold him like Paul. Instead, I hold his knee and smile up at him. He turns to me and smiles back.
~~~
"He just had some bad chicken." Cynthia says, grinning as she holds Julian close to her. "He just needs to sleep it off."
"Thank god." John says, standing up and stretching. My tired eyes look around to see the three other Beatles sleeping in the waiting room chairs. I turn to look at Paul who's hand is on my thigh.
"Let's go. We have to wake up early today." John says, and Cynthia giggles. She must be as happy as we all are.
"It's 6 in the morning, John." Ringo says, and I quickly notice the other boys have woken up. Cynthia tells them the good news, and they all begin to smile.
"6? Damn! We had to be at rehearsal by 5!" John says, as the other boys jump up and look around.
"Quick. Let's go get our instruments and-"
"Quiet, boys."
Everyone turns to face Brian, who has just entered the hospital. Paul fixes his hair as he moves closer to me. He holds my hand.
"I've already arranged your practice for later. Go back, shower and get your things ready. I want you at the venue by 12."
The boys grin and nod, heading outside. I begin to follow Paul as he continues gripping my hand, but Brian stops us.
"I have to speak with Carol, Paul."
"Why?" Paul says, as he slightly loses his grip on me.
"Nothing too personal, don't worry. Come on Carol, let's go out for breakfast."
I look at Paul as he makes a concerning face.
"Don't worry, Carol. Brian has been with us for a long time. I'm sure it's nothing bad."
"Okay." I say, smiling as I let go of Paul's hand.
"Make sure you come to the concert tonight, baby." Paul says before quickly kissing me. He runs off to join the others as Brian smiles at me.
"Come on, let's go get some tea."
"You want me to what?" I say, coughing on a piece of toast.
I'm in a nice diner with Brian as he smiles coyly at me. I cover my mouth and look around, hoping no one overheard my outburst.
"It'a just a suggestion." Brain says, handing me some water which I take.
"Having a child with someone you love is a big step." I say, causing Brian to nod.
"Oh, I know. It's good publicity though. Especially with the new movie and all."
I bite my lip. I can see where he's coming from, but a child just for that? I mean, I feel a little pressured and Paul and I only got married a few days ago...
"Bring it up with Paul." Brian says, as he eats some bacon. "After all, its a suggestion, not a command."
I sigh as I look out the window. I know Paul wants a child. I just don't know if I do just yet.
Do you think they should? Let me know! :)
