As I walked down the streets on my way to the post office, the smell of freshly brewed coffee infiltrated my nostrils and suddenly my feet had its own mind. I walked into the coffee shop at the corner and ordered a latte. With the cup in my hand, I took my phone out and looked at the map as I barely knew the area, and started walking. The walk to the post office took 15 minutes and it was bearable only with the caffeine pumping through my veins. I was glad the package was small and could fit in my tote otherwise I would have to lug it around all morning.

Before going to the supermarket I decided on an impromptu detour to the park and sat on one of the benches. The day was still young and I could hear the birds chirping up in the trees. It was peaceful. There were kids already playing there, some running around yelling tag while others were cuddled next to their parents. My mind wandered as I looked at them. A sudden loud bang startled me and I checked my phone. It was already 10 am. I decided to head down to the supermarket to get some supplies and groceries.

After shopping, I got out of the lift with both hands full and I had to put one bag down to unlock the apartment door. I was putting the stuff away when I heard shuffling outside the door. My curiosity took me to the door and as I looked through the peephole, I saw a broad back. The person was attempting to carry a box inside and amazingly failing at it. I remembered Mia saying that a guy lived in 4A. I chuckled at what was his third attempt or so and he turned around. I may have been a little too loud. His face was still a bit blurred so I was unable to make out his features. He pressed his eyes on to the other side of the peephole so fast that I doubled back. "Abort mission! Abort mission!" I silently screamed at myself and dashed away from the door. I was trying to calm my vigorously pumping heart when I heard another voice outside and then it was gone in a few seconds. I sighed and headed into my room.

The next few days ran smoothly and I did not see any of our neighbor. Mia went to work every day while I stayed back home. I knew I had to start looking for a job soon but I was yet to discover what I was really passionate about. The last four years has taught me that I was not cut out to be a lawyer. I refuse to succumb to my parents' wishes again and go back to doing what they wanted me to do. Living as a puppet for the past years has not allowed me anytime for myself and I was determined to get what I deserved. I had checked my account a few days back and according to my calculations I had enough money of my own to live comfortably for the better half of a year without a job. Of course I wanted to save money for the future so I decided to give myself a month the least before I found a new job.

Soon it was the weekend and the first off day for Mia since she started working. "What about this dress?" Mia asked my showing a light yellow dress that came right above her knee. I rolled my eyes. "You are not wearing that. We are just going to the movies". "and to dinner...." She said tilting her head to the side. I was rummaging through my closet to find my favorite sweater. I paired it with blue jeans and decided to tie my hair in a ponytail. "We are going to see Black Panther. Not some cliché romantic movie." I spoke in between applying a red lipstick. "Also dinner is just us. I don't want to see your legs while I am eati... aha. The legs aren't for me are they?" I turned towards her with a raised eyebrow.

Her cheeks were flushed when she started talking bluntly. "I need a man in my life again. It has been months since Mathew and I broke up". "Well you are not going to meet the love of your life tonight I can assure you" I said looking for a pair of boots. "I might, you might. Who knows? ........ So what do you think?" She twirled around to show off her outfit. She wore a round skirt with a blue top and matched it with ankle boots. "You look very pretty. Boys will line up for you" Mia smiled at my remark and walked towards the living room. I followed her wearing my brown knee high boots. I grabbed my keys from the counter and we left the apartment looking forward to a relaxing but fun and exciting night.

I wanted to update earlier but i wasn't feeling it. I am sorry for such a short chapter, I will write my next chapter longer. I didn't include any pictures for the outfits because I am leaving it up to your imagination :)
