A/N: This is sort of a filler chapter hence why it is shorter than any before.

I never thought in a million years there would come a day where I was shaken awake drenched in sweat in front of a stranger, but here I was. I did not have time to register the painful nightmare I had, as Jay came back with a glass of water. I downed it in one gulp before placing the empty glass on the coffee table. We both sat in complete silence for what felt like hours before Jay spoke.
"Was it a really bad one?"
I gave him a nod which gave him courage to ask for more.
"I don't think you would be comfortable talking about it with a stranger but I am here if you want to talk....Or do you want to do something else?"
I looked up at him. Men like him do exist. He didn't force me to speak but rather comforted me with his words.
I muttered a hmm before continuing, "I think I am going go to take a shower now"
"Okay. I have some errands to run so I will leave you be" with that said, he got up and left the apartment.
I sat there staring into the blank wall before the clock chimed. It brought me back to reality and got me up from the couch.
That day, Mia came home to find me painting on a canvas. "This is new" she said placing her bag on the kitchen counter. Taking a bottle of water from the fridge, she uncapped it before taking a chug from it.
"Where are we hanging it?" Mia asked knowing how rarely I paint something.
On that wall, I said pointing to the one on the left of the couch without taking my eyes off the painting. The painting was nearly done.
"Good choice. I'm going to take a shower. What should I cook for dinner?" Mia spoke while tying her hair up in a bun.
"Actually..... I thought I would cook something. For you..... and Jay"
Mia tilted her head asking as if I just declared a world war.
"You know.. as a thank you for taking such good care of me for the last 2 days or whatever" I spoke, passing it off as no big deal.
"How considerate of you." Mia spoke settling on the couch while crossing her legs. "Are you sure your brain is in the correct position? Or maybe they pumped you up with the wrong drugs?"
I knew she was teasing me so I threw a clean paintbrush at her. "Please stoooop"
We both started laughing before she smiled and said "It's just that you cooking for a man and maybe warming up to him is a new sight for my sore eyes."
"Yeah yeah okay whatever. My paintings done so help me prep the ingredients for the spaghetti" I spoke standing up from the floor.
"Sure let me call and let Jay know" Mia spoke picking up her phone.
"Don't worry I left him a note...under his door"
"Awwn you left him a note. That's so sweet. Bet he will cherish it forev.. eeeeeeee" She stopped mid-word as I started chasing her around.
That night, my Spaghetti Aglio E Olio was a hit and we all enjoyed each other's company. As I sat in the chair watching Jay and Mia bicker about who is the strongest between them, I realized that may be being friends with Jay was not a bad idea. We had a rocky start yes, but being friends with a male could be a new change for me considering my lack of friendship with any males before. Maybe, we would grow to become great friends someday.
In between their laughing, Jay gave me a glance and smiled and I smiled back at him. I felt a sense of protection and care from his glance. It was at that moment, I knew that we were going to be a significant part of each other's life. However, I underestimated how significant it would be.
