Chapter 16

A/N: I've been leaving subtle hints foreshadowing what is going to happen in the story, have any of you noticed it? (p.s. it's mostly about Luna's future.)

"So you mentioned having a male friend?" spoke Dr. Forbes as she adjusted in her seat in front of me. It was a beautiful morning as I walked to her office that day. The sky was clear and the sun was shining. I was in a happy mood too. This may be why my voice came out chirpier than ever.

"Yes doc. Remember that guy Jay that I talked about a few sessions back. Well it's him."

"How did you become friends?" said Dr. Forbes.

"Well..... during the Leanna incident, it was him and Mia that saved and helped me. So I felt really grateful for them. One day I cooked them both dinner and one thing led to another we started hanging out more."

My eyes moved away from her, scanning the room. I tend to do this when I am nervous. "During the first few days I was really hesitant because well I did not know him, but then.... We spent quite a lot of hours together. We binge watched series a few nights and it was amazing discussing about something all 3 of us liked" Dr. Forbes gave me an encouraging nod and I continued.

"He brings a different energy to the group you know" I spoke leaning forward "yeah I think I consider us a group. We share a lot of similarities in our likes and dislikes. For example we love to play UNO, watch Netflix and well hate salmon. Ewww"

"You said that he brings a different energy to the group. Could you explain what you mean by different energy?" Dr. Forbes questioned with a small head tilt. Geez does she remember every little remark I make.

"ummmmm...." I trailed off as my thoughts began churning in a whirlpool of emotions. That was a good question. What kind of energy does he have?

"Ah-ha. He is the energetic one." I may have gotten a tad more excited than I should have because Dr. Forbes almost jumped up on her seat.

"I'm sorry"

"It's okay Luna. Go on" She spoke calmly.

"I'm quiet, yet chaotic at times. Mia is the mother of the group keeping things in order and ordering us around..... but let's be honest we both are too lazy to even get up on our free days. Jay is different. He is energetic and fun and ever since we started hanging out, I noticed that he smiles a lot. It's like our own little sun shining its light on us............"

I started playing with my finger before looking up. "but I don't think he is happy. Like genuinely happy. You know....with life... I-I think it is a façade. His smile does not reach his eyes at times. Mia may not notice this but I do because I have felt that. I know of the smile that does not reach the eye because I am that girl with the smile.... Even though I am trying I still cannot part with it."

Dr. Forbes noted something down on her papers before speaking "So what do you want to do about this?"

I replied without skip of beat "I want him to be happy and smiling. He makes me happy... Mia makes me happy. I want them both happy.... I want to talk to him but I don't know how to start. What should I do?"

"Luna. I cannot tell you what to do. It is his life..." I immediately grew sad and she continued. "but I can give you a suggestion. From your accounts it seems like it is always something the 3 of you likes to do. Maybe, next time try something that he likes. It could help him open up to you"

"Actually we both love superheroes maybe we could go watch a movie of them. Mia cannot stand superheroes"

"Well there is a start" She looked at the clock behind me before continuing. "It seems that out time is up. Shall we continue, next week? You remember what we planned to do for the next session?".

I gulped. "Yes I do. I think I am ready"

"Good" Dr. Forbes gave a nod.

"That's a great idea Luna. What do you think Mia?" we were having pizza at Jay's apartment that night.

I choked on a slice as I tried to hold my laughter in. "Oh she ain't going. Hates superheroes with her guts."

Jay gasped loudly "NOO!!! WHAT? THE WHAT? Why am I hearing of this just now?"

"Well my dear Jay. You don't need to know everything about me" Mia said settling on the couch.

"But why? Who would hate iron man?" Jay even gave Mia puppy eyes.

"You don't know me. You don't know my life" with that she took a swig from her bottle.

I shrugged before turning towards Jay. "So me and you, Infinity war, tomorrow night, 8pm?" I gave an eyebrow raise for some effect.

"Hell yeah dude" we high fived as Mia rolled her eyes. She spoke, "Just don't forget to pack beforehand since we leave for my mom's the next day. Okay?"

It was Mia's birthday this weekend so her mom invited me over for a two day birthday celebration. Mia also invited Jay and he was eagerly ready to go saying he had never been to the coast.

AFTER THE MOVIE:

"So you agree now? Thanos is more powerful than the avengers." Jay spoke going out of the theatre.

"Nah man. It was just cause they sucked at planning. If all of the avengers had actually sat down and planned. They could have hid Gamora then maybe none of the shit would have happened.... Also I saw you shed a tear at her death. Don't worry man I did too" I laughed giving him a pat on the back.

"Ha ha not funny. Thanos is too damn powerful. I wish I had the time stone"

"Why is that? Oh hold on I got a call." I held a finger up before answering the phone.

"Hello.... Yes this is she..... Hey its you. Is everything alright?..... Is this something urgent? Cause tomorrow is no good for me. I'm actually going to be out for the weekend..... an-ha... yeah... okay then can it wait? I do not want to know about it rn..... It doesn't matter... yes.... Thank you for understanding.... Yes I will ring you as soon as I am back...... You too" I pressed the end button and turned towards Jay.

"Who was that?"

"Ummm nobody.. Let's just go home I need to sleep for tomorrow." I said pushing him on the road towards our building.

As we walked along the somewhat quiet street, I wondered what it could be that made her call in the middle of the night.
