A/N: After writing "Take A Break" I got the idea to write this and oh my gosh why did I do this to myself??? Why??? As always, I do not own My Hero Academia, any of its characters, or the song "Satisfied" from Hamilton. I couldn't find a good video of "Satisfied," but I would definitely recommend listening to it while reading this. Enjoy!

"A toast to the groom!" Mirio smiled, the picture of happiness as he raised a glass to Tamaki, to his best friend who he loved enough to put aside the excruciating pain it took to do this. Following his lead, friends and family cheered boisterously, raising their glasses to the dark-haired man.
"To the bride!" Turning to you, his heart clenched as he watched you smile bashfully and lace your fingers with your new husband's. Swallowing the lump in his throat, he continued, "From your best friend who is always by your side!" Nejire whistled from somewhere in the crowd, a small, relieving distraction from the cruel irony of his position.
"To your union and the hope that you provide!" Mirio saw Tamaki blush and smile at you from the corner of his eye, shamefully envious when you returned the loving glance.
"May you always be satisfied!" 'Unlike me...' Biting his bottom lip, Mirio held back the tears he promised himself he wouldn't shed today. It hurt more than he thought it would, wishing the two of you happiness. Don't get him wrong, he loved the both of you dearly, it was just...complicated. Whereas he loved Tamaki as a best friend, he loved you...as much more than a friend.
Now, as he watched Tamaki cup your cheek and kiss you softly without a care for the watching audience, Mirio felt his memory rewind, the world around him slowing and silencing as his eyes lost focus and blood roared in his ears.
"I'm not so sure about this, Mirio." Tamaki shuffled his feet nervously, edging closer to the taller blonde. "There are a lot of people here."
Laughing, Mirio slapped him on the back, smiling assuredly. "You'll be fine Tamaki! I'm sure everyone here is really nice!" From nearby, a group of girls smiled and waved, giggling when Mirio waved back. "See, they're nice!"
Mirio would always remember that night, would probably always regret it. The antics of other partying heroes, the sidekicks making fools of themselves to win the praise of the Big Three, the upbeat music- Mirio remembered every detail about that night, but, more than anything, he would never forget the first time he saw you.
He had never been the same afterwards.
"(Y/N)!!!" Mirio turned, attention drawn by Nejire's excitement...and his breath caught in his throat.
Happily returning Nejire's overjoyed embrace was the most beautiful girl Mirio had ever seen. Everyone else around you disappeared as he stared, jaw dropping. When Nejire introduced you, he payed little attention, too captivated by your intelligent eyes as they met his.
"Hi, I'm (y/n)!" You said, a friendly smile on your face.
"Huh? Oh! I'm..." All he could do was stare at you dumbly, mouth hanging open, as he tried to remember his name. His heart felt like it was about to burst into flames, it was beating so quickly.
"This is Mirio!" Nejire jumped in to save him, sending him a cheeky smirk when you weren't looking.
"H-Hi, I'm Tamaki." Mirio was faintly aware of Tamaki introducing himself, but his eyes remained on you, mind racing with the possibilities of what he could have with you.
Witty, intelligent, cheerful- you were all these things and more, someone he could match wits with, totally agree with, be free with...
...but it wasn't meant to be.
As he dreamed of a relationship with you, Mirio should've known that it was too good to be true, that there was a catch waiting to shatter his heart.
Mirio's gaze never left you as you laughed and smiled with various friends and acquaintances, a goddess among mere mortals. He wanted to take you far away from this place, tell you how he felt about you, find out what it would feel like to hold you in his arms, press his lips to yours...
"Mirio." His eyes tore away from you reluctantly, shifting to Tamaki, and they widened in horror and disbelief. His shy friend wasn't looking at him, instead focused on the very person he'd just been fantasizing about.
One look and Mirio could tell that he was helpless. Completely and utterly helpless. Head over heels helpless. Here was the catch he should've expected. Like a deer caught in headlights, Mirio was suddenly confronted with the decision that would decide his future.
He knew Tamaki better than anyone. Sure, he was reserved and quiet, but he was also kind to a fault. If he told Tamaki he was in love with you he'd be silently resigned. You'd be all his.
Tamaki would say, "I'm fine."
...But he'd be lying.
Late at night, when he imagined what could have been if he hadn't made the decision to let Tamaki have you, it was your beautiful eyes that filled his mind and dreams, imprinted in his brain for the rest of his life.
His only consolation as he smothered his tears and sobs into a pillow, hating himself, was the fact that his precious friend was your husband, that he'd at least keep your eyes in his life.
Shaking his head, Mirio turned to the present, to what was a happy, joyful day for everyone except him.
People were laughing and smiling, no one suspecting that the best man with "happy" tears in his eyes was actually dying inside. As he turned back to the two people he cared about most, cheerful façade in place, his mind whirled with doubts and questions.
Was the universe so cruel as to deny him the one person he wanted most?
"I'll always be there for the two of you!" He told the blushing newlyweds, smiling though his vision blurred.
Why did he have to be so unselfish?
"Treat her well, Tamaki!" What was he saying? Mirio knew he would. If anyone deserved you it was Tamaki.
Why did he have to love his best friend so much as to sacrifice his own happiness?
"May you always be satisfied!" And Mirio's unhappiness was sealed.
He knew the two of you would be happy together and he desperately tried to find comfort in that fact, but he was overcome by the bitter truth seared into his broken heart.
As the reception applauded, the noise reaching a roar, Mirio whispered it under his breath, a small tear finding its way down his cheek.
"I will never be satisfied."
A/N: Poor Mirio.T_T He's definitely the Angelica of the Big Three. Thank you for reading! Next up is Bakugou!
