Chapter 6: Eyes up here, pretty boy
“Guess who?”
Hands covered my eyes and I smiled at the familiar voice.
“Ian Somerhalder?”
Sebastian flicked my forehead and sat across from me as I grinned. Leaning my elbows on the cafe table, I rested my chin on my hands.
I pouted. “Damn, I was so sure.”
Sebastian rolled his eyes and waved a waitress over. “Hi, can I have a latte please.”
I glanced over at the waitress who had a dazed look in her eyes at the sound of his accent. I refrained from laughing as she nodded and walked away in a daze.
“You’ve left her awestruck,” I remarked.
“It's the accent. All girls love a British accent,” he stated with a smirk.
I chuckled. “Not just girls, Caiden keeps calling me Miss exotic.”
Sebastian chuckled before getting something out of his pocket. His hand appeared with a familiar watch, and he grasped my hand. I smiled as he clipped the watch around my wrist.
“You use it the same way, and no one can track it.”
I nodded. “Thanks.”
The waitress appeared again with his drink and Sebastian slipped the money into her apron pocket with a flirtatious wink. Blood rushed to her cheeks, and she scurried away.
Sebastian’s smirk wiped off when he noticed my unimpressed look.
“What?” He laughed. “Just harmless flirting. I need to take advantage of this exotic accent,” he referred to Caiden's nickname for me.
I flicked his wrist and he swatted my hand away. “Come on, you nearly made the poor girl faint. Let’s notch down the flirting a bit.”
He laughed, his dimples coming out ti play, and his blue eyes shone in amusement. “Aw Cupcake, you jealous? There’s no need. You’ll always be my number one girl.”
I snorted. “You wish.”
Sebastian chuckled. “Anywho, how’s the assignment going? Aiden still being an ass?”
I sighed. “Surprisingly no, he apologised. And I don’t know if he was being genuine or not.”
Sebastian stared at me bluntly. “Yes, you do. We’ve been trained to read body language.”
“Yeah but he’s just such a complex character to me,” I huffed.
Sebastian smiled. “You’ll figure him out, Cupcake.”
I straightened up and took a sip of my hot chocolate, Sebastian mirroring my actions.
“So any new updates?” I asked.
Sebastian shook his head. “Not really. Devin is still analysing everything and we haven’t figured out who the sniper was.”
The recent case which put Aaron and his family in danger was about Aaron's firm locking away an ex-military man, Jonathan Hitchens, who used his past privilege to traffic guns. Our main suspect so far who is Jonathan's brother who is also ex-military and has the motive to want revenge on Aaron.
“What about his brother? Nathan, was it?” I asked.
Sebastian nodded. “Yeah, we confirmed his alibi during the shooting, and it couldn’t have been him.”
