Chapter 8: You have really green eyes
By the time Friday came, I had been to school for an entire week and had grown accustomed to the daily routine. In terms of the case, Devin found a new lead which Sebastian was going to tell me about tomorrow when we met up for lunch.“Anything planned for today?” I asked Aiden as we exited the lift.
He glanced over at me and shook his head. “I was thinking we could train today?”
Last time we did a session together was on Wednesday and I had taught Aiden the basic defence moves. He also seemed to be more grateful for our sessions as he was actually learning things.
I smiled and nodded. “I’ll meet you in the gym in five minutes.”
We parted ways as I stepped into my room and changed out of my school uniform. Mary had given me a new skirt after Tuesday’s glue incident and I was extremely grateful. Wearing a pear of sweats and a t-shirt, I tied my hair up into a messy bun and jogged down the stairs.
When I walked into the gym, Aiden was already there and passed me a bottle of water and an apple. I nodded a thanks and sat down on the matted floor. He mirrored my action.
“Okay, today I thought I could teach you how to fight back rather than just deflect because if someone comes charging at you, you can’t just keep dodging their hits," I explained and took a bite out of my apple.
Aiden finished his apple. “Sounds good.” His hazel eyes flickered over my face before he asked, “how did you learn all these things?”
I smiled at his question. “My dad trained my brother and I since we were little. It’s only once I was 15 that I joined HAC and got the full training.”
Aiden nodded, his eyes full of intrigue. “Were your parents a part of HAC?”
“Yeah. They were best friends with the CEO and his son, Sebastian, is my best friend.”
It surprised me how easily I spoke about my parents with Aiden. I stood up, giving a hand to Aiden to haul him up.
“Come on.”
I threw my apple in the bin and faced Aiden. Gesturing for him to come forward, I grasped his arms.
“Okay. I know your right arm is your stronger one so you always have to protect this one when defending yourself,” I stated and positioned his arms.
“Can you teach me how to do that thing you did to Spencer. You know when you flipped him,” Aiden said in an almost excited tone.
I chuckled. “Alright.”
I twisted him around and in spite of being nearly a head taller than me, I hooked my arms around his neck and jumped onto his back. Aiden stumbled forward at the sudden weight and balanced himself.
“I didn’t offer to be your horse, Princess,” he teased.
I flicked his ear and he winced. “Listen, a guy bigger than you would easily put you in a head lock, but I’m unfortunately short so you’ll have to deal with it.”
I felt Aiden’s shoulders shake as he laughed. “Alright, explain.”
I tightened one arm around his neck and placed my other hand on his chin. “One snap and you’re dead,” I warned. “So although you'll be choking, you need to focus and think about surviving. Grab my arms.”
He followed my instructions and I continued telling him what to do all the while on his back until finally he got into the correct stance.
“Alright. Now flip me over and throw me on the ground,” I ordered.
