Chapter 41: Resignation

"F-Former member and a G-Guild master? Sandaime, y-your mages are m-magnificent....."

Shivering in excitement, Mavis clutched on her fist while a nervous smile was placed on her face. Mavis had never thought that the former guild members that had left become so powerful that one of her former guildmates within the seven years time gained herself a title of guild master. Bewilderment was not the only emotion that she's experiencing, the sense of expectation and anticipation had planted within her heart. With her eyes glittering, she was confident that they have the strength to defeat the brutal, cynical black mage, Zeref.

In the opposite side of the spectrum, Makarov was frozen as his eyes widened in surprise. He had expected the sense of the difference in the people within this era due his absent in seven years time.

But the difference is a bit too much.

The young dependent boyish child was no longer exist in this era, and she transformed into a mature female leader, capable of withstanding a group of mage alone. The blue within her pupil no longer held the purity and innocence of the person. The blue within her pupils was clear yet murky. Calm but beneath the surface, a sense of turbulence hidden. Makarov sighed as he spurred his head towards the woman in front of him, whose engaging a conversation with Mavis.

Seven years..... we had missed so much......

Noticing his glance, Jamie turned towards the source. Plastering a weary smile, Jamie nodded her head, greeting the Sandai guild master.

"Long time no see, Master."

Sighing with helplessness, Makarov revealed a warm smile as he slowly approached the woman who's no longer the same teen that with his usual hooded jacket and shorts.

"I'm glad seeing you well, Jamie."

"Jamie! You should come along to the pool! Everyone will be thrilled to see you! They would never expect the girl right in front of them is the same Jamie that they have known!"

With Mavis frenetic gestures revealed her excitement at the growth of his woman and the desired to reveal the identity of the mysterious Lucy's cousin. Despite the enthusiasm in Mavis' voice, Jamie with a weary smile denied the offer that was suggested. Makarov quickly raised the question to her rejection which Jamie replied with a painful, troubled expression on her face. She closed her eyes to calm her heart from bumping in an accelerated speed and mentally prepared to speak up her final decision.

"I have decided to return to Sabertooth after the Grand Magic Games."

With one phrase, the two master held surprised expression on their face, yet was able to recover from shock instantly when they thought about the reason of pulling the two master to the side, preventing the public eyes.

"The situation within the guild was at the peck of collapsing. Internal conflicts between members, external conflict with other guilds, leaving of our guildmates and many more. There are too many problems that are currently happening within the guild. It's my responsibility to go back and handle them as a former guild master. Despite that I left the guild as a test for the candidate of the next Sabertooth guild master, I am still the person that started this whole mess."

With her blue eyes revealed the gleam of determination, Jamie clutched her hands as a painful expression was replaced on her face as she remembers the resentment of her guildmates held towards Minerva.

That's right. Sabertooth is still my guild. I need to help them out.

With her eyes reopened, she wore a smile that was filled with the sadness of her separation from the other members.

"So today I came to ask for the resignation of the guild. Can you remove the guild mark on my shoulder, Sandai guild master?"

So this is the reason that you pulled us to the side right, Jamie?

Mavis with her facial expression was scrunched up as if she holding back her emotion, closing her eyes to calm her heart down. She then reopened her eyes holding a warm smile towards the woman in front of her. She turned to Makarov, knowing that he will be dejected, sorrowful that the woman in front of him is leaving the guild, yet instead of the expression with melancholy, she saw the solemn appearance. Makarov stepped forward with his arms crossed, having a cold demeanor around him.

"Are you sure about this decision?"

"I have been thinking about rejoining Fairy Tail again. I left the guild as an excuse of giving them a test of independence, yet the truth is that I really to see you guys again. Rejoining Fairy Tail as a member and surrounded by the other old members was more than I wanted. It's about time that I need to recover my identity as a guild master."

With her expression soften, she remembers the times that she had to spend with the Thunder God Tribe. Evergreen still has a prideful yet loving attitude. Freed is still holding the cold, solemn demeanor around him, yet in front of his guildmate, he warmed up as a small smile was seen on his lips. Bickslow who is the only one that knows her real identity still held his mischievous side, yet always treated her like his little sister, caring, and understanding.

And Laxus is.....

With the memory of Laxus and herself in their wedding costume, Jamie blushed and breathed in and out to calm her heart. Makarov who didn't realize the blush on Jamie's face looked down in deep thoughts before revealing a smile.

".....Is that so? That's your final decision."

"Yes."

Makarov then stared at Jamie's warm smile and sighed. He walked towards Mavis where is his original position.

"Well, then I accepted your decision for leaving Fairy Tail. Remember the three rules?"

Jamie gave Makarov a weary smile as she nodded. Makarov then raised his hand as he recited the spell to remove the guild mark of her shoulder. A bright golden magic circle appeared underneath Jamie's feet. With the sudden magic circle, the air around them had become breezy as the other people that walk past the area, embraced themselves with the sudden change of temperature.

"Number one! You should never share sensitive information about Fairy Tail with anyone who is an outside of Fairy Tail for as long as you live!"

The guild mark that was on Jamie's shoulder slowly creased into small pieces as Makarov continue to recite the rules of leaving Fairy Tail. Jamie turned to Mavis as she could see that Mavis' figure is slowly fading.

"Number two. You must never contact past clients that you had worked under during your time in the guild for personal benefits."

Mavis smiled as she interrupted Makarov's reciting the rules. Jamie then held the smile between her lips as she repeated the last rule together with Mavis and Makarov.

"Number three. Though our paths may have diverged, you must continue to live out your life with all your might. You must never consider your own life to be something insignificant as you must never forget about your friends who loved you. "

As they spoke the last rule together, Mavis quickly speak out to catch Jamie's attention as she knew that without the guild mark, Jamie would no longer be able to see her. Jamie heard Mavis' shout quickly turned to her direction as she could no longer see Mavis figure yet she could hear her faint gentle voice.

"Thank you for rejoining Fairy Tail one last time. I'm glad that I have met you. Continue the path that you have chosen, youngster."

With the very last part of the guild mark left disappearing, the light had dimmed down. When Jamie reopened her eyes, she could not see or hear Mavis. She despite couldn't sense Shodai master, knew that Mavis is right in front of her, standing right beside the Sandai guild master. With a bright closed-eye smile, she spoke in a cheerful tone.

"Thank you, Shodai."
