Chapter 55: Reunion

When I woke up from the long slumber, I was bewildered by the truth.

The seven years passing were just like a few seconds for me.

Seven years of being locked in the Tenrou island.

The magic that Mavis placed has indeed saved our lives.

But in exchange, we paid a price.

We could have watched her grown up and be at her side during this whole time.

But we have left her alone in the dark for seven years.

She grows up without us for seven years.

A seven years story without us.

"Jamie...."

Standing under the moonlight, Jamie have appeared to be unfamiliar to Laxus, properly because of Jamie's appearance have suddenly changed so drastically that Laxus couldn't tell that the woman stood in front of her is Jamie. However, the most important part of that made Laxus felt unfamiliar to this woman is that the woman-

"You know that I couldn't see your face with your veil on..."

-have covered her face with a veil.

"Oh sorry, didn't remember to remove it."

The white veil that Jamie wore on was splits in the middle with laced pattern. Jamie's hands grabbed the opening of the veil and lifted the two side of the cloth, exposing her face. Laxus, who have a stoic expression immediately turned in bewilderment when he saw the familiar face, then later with realisation.

"Quin? Wait."

Jamie then smiled mysteriously as she let Laxus to some time to process. Quin is one of her disguise, yet this is identity is also a hint to the Thunder God tribe.

Jamie Quintana.

Quin is in her surname and usually people will realise it quickly if they have remember. In Fairy tail, there's not a lot of people know her surname because most people in the guild wouldn't call her with her surname. Jamie is just a child with no control over her magic, despite being well-know as the child that joins the Thunder God Tirbe in the guild, no one is need to address her with appropriate manners. As a result, not a lot of people remember her surname.

"You use your surname to fool us. Does Lucy know that you're Jamie?"

"I asked her to cooperate with me."

Laxus sigh.

"You should keep your pranks, mischief in moderation."

Jamie brightens with a radiant smile.

Jamie sat on the stone bench beside Laxus, facing the castle gardren, silently enjoying the view of the night sky. Laxus who sat beside her, were also in silent, pondering over the reason behind Jamie's act of disguise. Through his instincts, Laxus couldn't felt that he had amiss something important during Jamie's reveal.

Laxus felt confused by Jamie's action. Everyone in Fairy Tail knows Jamie since she's a guildmate in the past. She's also part of Thunder God Tribe, not that Laxus is bragging about his team popularity, the team have a decent frame within Fairy Tail in the past. Despite she quited Fairy Tail and left the guild seven years ago, the current members still knows her and acknowledge her part of the family. There's no reason for her to disguise herself and secretly come to see the members when she can just come back directly.

Unless she's not coming back to Fairy Tail...

Laxus felt nervous when the thought of Jamie never coming back to Fairy Tail. In his conscience, he always thought that Jamie will come back Fairy Tail whatever she have become. The thought of her departure never have come through his mind.

But that would explain all the actions that she have taken..

Laxus clutches his hands together, furrowing his eyebrow. He tried not to think the worst consequence, yet his logic told him that it is the correct answer.

"Are you not coming back?"

He felt like he's holding his breath forever while waiting for his answer, hoping that his hinch is wrong. However, Jamie's reactions goes aginst his expectations. Jamie held her head down, keeps her lips tight as if the silent admittion is the answer.

Jamie knew that this day will soon come. The day that she have to choose between Fairy Tail and Sabertooth. she bit her lips as she stand firm on her position.

"Sorry, Laxus."

With one apology, Laxus have let out the breath that he had been holding on. He knew that his instinct never goes wrong.

"...Is it because we have came back too late?"

When Jamie heard Laxus' words, her eyes widen in surprise but instantly changes back to her usual gentle smile. She have never expected that Laxus would asked her with such frail tone. She was rather happy that Laxus is opening up to her. Laxus have also been her best friend, properly she treated him as the most important person in the world, but Jamie know that it was different for Laxus. He would just treated her as a person who needed his protection, maybe a young sister in his heart, but never as the opposite gender.

Well. It understandable since I'm still fourteen and Laxus is not a pedophile.

"I have somewhere that I belong. Somewhere that the people needed me."

Laxus remained silence as Jamie turned to look at him. Laxus' grimmed expression have make her stopped her track, yet within a moment of thought, she regain her composure. Jamie know that leaving Fairy Tail is a huge shock for those that think Fairy Tail as their home, yet Jamie still have chosen Sabertooth over Fairy Tail. It's not the fact that Sabertooth is greater than Fairy Tail, purely the fact that her existence is necessary for Sabertooth and Fairy Tail not quite necessary needed her existence.

Though it still feels good being in Fairy Tail.

Remisincing all the times that she have been in Fairy Tail, her smile slightly broadens. However, she know that the past remains the past, she couldn't let her past emtions control her decision. Jamie then stood up and smiled towards Laxus.

"I will see you then, Laxus-nii - ah, wait-"

She stopped her sentence as she let out a bright smile.

"I should call you Laxus for now on since we are the same age."

Jamie then turned away from Laxus and headed back towards the ceremony hall. As her hand reaches the handle of the glassed door, a force pulled her back and envolped her into a tight embrace. Before she could speak, a husky voice have whispered towards her ears, which made Jamie's ear redden.

"Stay here with me for a while."
