Chapter 56: You are mine

"Stay with me."

His frail voice echoes through her ears as her body is frozen in the position. His arms wrap the woman into his embrace as if he's holding something/someone so precious to him. He nuzzles his head on her shoulders, inhaling her scent, ratifying the woman is the person that he had been searching for the past few months. 

So it was you. 

He tightens his embrace while the woman who regains her conscience wiggled to escape from tight embraces. He could feel the woman's struggle and slightly giggled at her actions. 

As if I could let you out from my sight again.

Laxus had long recognised his affection toward Jamie. The anonymous jealousy, the yearning desire and the special treatment towards this woman in front of him. Initially, he thought it was a sense of family love; however, his love has changed into something different since they have come back from Tenrou Island. Maybe it has not been changed since he constantly reminded himself that they have seven years of the age difference.

However, these reasons are not mattered now. All he wanted is to stay beside her from now on. 

His arms closely embraced the woman, allowing no rejections from her. The woman struggled for a while, then give up as she couldn't see herself being let go from him. She sighed.

"How long are you planning to let me go?"

She could hear the man chuckled as he replied.

"Hm? Maybe .... never?"

Her heart jumps when she heard the reply but calm herself down when she remembers that the person in front of her do not treat her the same age. 

"Stop joking around and let me go. I need to meet up with Minerva after this."

Minerva, the sub-guild master of Sabertooth, have planned to meet up with her before publicising themselves in front of the other guild since this ball party is a great chance to deepen their relationships with other guilds. 

"So you are prioritising Minerva than me?"

Refusing to let go, he cuddled the woman with his strong arm as he whined in jealousy. The woman turned her head towards him with he returning the gaze with affection eyes.

"What are you whining about? What are you, a child?"

"I don't mind being a child in front of you."

The woman hesitated on her confront from his straight gaze. For a second, she has thought that Laxus loved her. However, she then shakes her head as she knew his affection isn't coming from being a lover but more of a brotherly, family love.

"Laxus, stop fooling me. There's a line between being a family and being a lover."

Jamie controlled her expression and turned her head away. She didn't want to raise her expectation towards his sudden change in affection. Jamie understands that Laxus wouldn't love her the same way ever since she realised her small romance towards the dragon slayer. Her crush is destined to sail into an endless sea. She wasn't saddened from this lonely crush; she was glad that Laxus had given her such an experience. Besides being embarrassed and slightly happy from Minvera's tease, she has long known that her love wouldn't flourish and her tears have long dried up.

Laxus's body stiffed from her replied as his face darken.

"Who said that I am treating you as my family at the moment."

With a hand on Jamie's jaw, her face is forcefully turned behind. She could see the man in front of her is angered, displeased from her saying while Laxus is closing up the distance between them. His action stupefies Jamie, and her mind is blanked out as Laxus bring his lips towards Jamie. 

"I will make you remember that you are mine."

"Jamie's late."

Swirling the glass of wine in her gloved hands, Minerva is enjoying herself at the corner of the ballroom. She is waiting for her dear guild master to come back from her small reunion with a certain blond dragon slayer, certainly not the one in their guild. The food is rather tasty, and the atmosphere is rather welcoming to the adventure guilds considering the fact it's a royal ball. There's a high possibility that the court men are polite towards the adventure guildmates because it was the princess invitation. However, their speciesism toward mages doesn't change. The royals, dukes, evidently distanced themselves from the adventure guilds groups since they don't consider themselves communicating with a bunch of ruffians.

Though there are always unusual ones.

Minerva could feel the gazes from the side of the royal throughout the party. It has not been just one but multiple. She was tired of the court man's constant attention, but she could understand their persisting attention on her.

Because she is beautiful.

It's not just she praising herself or her being egotistic, and it's a fact.

Well, it's not that matter at the moment.

Jamie was half an hour late from the promised time. They promised to meet up before publicizing themself in front of the group members, yet the woman she is supposed to meet up went missing.

Okay, fifteen minutes is my limit of tolerance. So I am very; I mean VERY patiently waiting for you.

"Minerva. Sorry for the long wait."

A woman with her white veil and snow-white dress tapped on Minerva's shoulder, bringing shivers to Minerva's back. Minerva usually will lay a few hits on this impolite person who suddenly appeared at someone's back; however, Minerva didn't do the same this time.

The woman was the missing Sabertooth guild master, Jamie Quintana. Though Minerva found her attitude is a bit strange. The white veil couldn't hide the redness on her cheeks while Minerva could see her lips are a bit swollen. She could also see the hidden marks on her neck covered by the clothing. Minvera then saw a familiar man behind Jamie walking out of the terrace, entering the ball with a slight glow on his face. With her keen eyesight and clever mind, Minerva could immediately understand the situation.

Minerva stared at Jamie while Jamie flinched at her strong gaze. 

"Wha-what is it, Minvera?"

"You..... Did you guys did it?"

 "NO!!! WE DID NOT! We just....kissed...."

Lowering her head, Jamie felt blood rushing into her head; steam is vapouring on top of her head as she finished the sentence with a small voice. Minerva, whose looking at her with her hands crossed, sighed. 

"Looks like you are applying for another vacation after this ball."
