It had been a few days since that incident and Mira had refused to talk to me. I even tried to apologize, even though I didn't need to, but sadly it didn't work. So, I just gave her some time to cool herself off.
Meanwhile, seeing as how Desmond pointed out that I had been spending too much time with her anyways, I decided to start hanging out with Desmond more often. We had actually had a game night planned for this weekend, when a girl had been passing out invitations to a party.
Now, normally I wouldn't have accepted the invitation, but after the last couple of weeks, I needed something to take my mind off things and what better way to do that, than go to a party? After all, the invitation came directly from Evelyn Chang. She was one of those popular girls that I had heard so much about. Though, to be honest, I was surprised to even receive an invitation, seeing as how she had no idea that existed. But apparently it was an open party, one where anyone was invited.
Of course, Desmond refused to go at first, as he didn't really like parties, but after a little convincing, Desmond finally agreed to go.
The party was actually being hosted at a night club, which was apparently owned by Evelyn's father. It was called: The Chang High. Obviously, a reference to Shanghai the city.
I for one couldn't wait for the party, which was this weekend. I'd never really been invited to a party before, except for the occasional birthday parties. Though, this was no birthday party, as I soon found out.
After impatiently waiting for the week to end, Friday had finally arrived, and we made our way downtown where the nightclub was. Luckily it was easy to find, as there was a purple and pink neon sign hanging about the door that said: The Change High, which we entered.
Inside the club, was a multicolored dance floor with a disco ball above it that shot out rays of lights in all directions. As for the back of the club, there was the stage with stripper poles on it, of which were being used by girls who were in their underwear as well as shirtless guys, all of whom were ripped.
As for the front of the club, there was of course a bar, which should've been closed, seeing as how everyone here were minors, but surprisingly it wasn't. Speaking of minors, I was actually wondering where all the adults were. I guess Evelyn's father didn't care whether or not his daughter and her friends were drinking or not. After all, he wasn't anywhere to be seen and I'd definitely be able to spot him because he was one of the few millionaires who lived in town.
Anyways,Desmond and I made our way onto the crowded dance floor where everyone was swinging and moving their bodies in a wild fashion. Though, some actually seemed to know how to dance.
One girl actually seemed to recognize Desmond from the basketball team, as she came up to him, saying she was a fan. And they ended up dancing later. I joked that he could thank me later for making him come to the party.
As for me, I mostly danced by myself, well I wouldn't really call it dancing, more like swinging. As you could imagine, I wasn't that great of a dancer. Still, I tried to have as much fun as possible and I tried flirting with some girls, but to no success.
Though, surprisingly Evelyn had come up to me and asked if wanted to dance. Of course,I thought it was odd, but I agreed nonetheless. For some reason I wanted to impress Evelyn and so I tried doing some more complicated dance moves that I had seen others do. Unfortunately, all I ended up doing was embarrassing myself, or at least, I thought I had, but surprisingly Evelyn thought it cute that I was trying so hard to impress her and she dragged me over to one of the back rooms of the club, which was lit up neon colors.
