After that failed, Mira and I discussed what to do next and we decided to try again. Though, we thought it best to wait for things to calm down. Though, my dad ended up inviting me to my first raid operation the next day.
A raid operation was where Huntsmen raided key locations where magical beings and vampires gathered. And it was just my luck that the location of the raid was Blackmark. Thankfully the raid wasn't until this weekend and so I had time to prepare.
I decided it was best to call Mira to tell her the news and I told her I planned on trying to help as many people as I could to escape. She thought it was a good idea and said she'd help me. Although, unfortunately I didn't know the time of the raid, I just knew that it was going to happen on Saturday. So, she planned accordingly.
Now,normally I would've been excited for my first raid, but that was before I found out that magical beings weren't bad, just misunderstood (well most of them)some were actually bad. Anyways, I wasn't really looking forward to the day of the raid, for more than one reason or another; though the main reason why was because I was worried I'd accidentally kill someone. And of course, as I got closer to the time of the raid, my anxiety began to kick in and I was fruitlessly wishing for the day to never come, but unfortunately, come the day did.
And so, here I was putting on my ridiculously looking face mask, which covered up half my face, as well as my black leather Huntsmen's battle tunic. Even though I normally wore a black leather jacket, the tunic I was wearing felt confined, whereas my leather jacket felt breathable. I wished I didn't have to wear it, but apparently wearing battle tunics was a Huntsmen tradition, so I had no choice but to wear it.
Now that I was dressed,I headed down the stairs to where my family was, and we said goodbye to my sister and mother, who gave me a hug and told me to be safe, and we headed off to Blackmark.
As we made our way there, I was thinking how it was kind of funny that we were taking a car to get there. I mean, I know everyone takes cars to go everywhere, after all, it's the modern era, but seeing as how we were Huntsmen who hunted magical beings, it just felt very out of place.
And as I thought about it, I began wondering how the other magical beings got around. I knew vampires used cars, because vampires were the closest magical beings that resembled humans. But what about werewolves? Or goblins, or witches and etc?
Since werewolves were humans that could morph into wolves, I figured they just used their werewolf form to get to places. Although, I didn't know if werewolves moved faster than cars, because if they didn't, then it would be better for them to use a car instead. As for witches and warlocks, I just figured they used magic. And I thought maybe they used magic to create portals?
I didn't know, but I thought it was fun to think about. Although, now wasn't really the time to be thinking about such things. After all, we were about to do a raid and I needed to stay focus,so I shook my head to clear my thoughts.
"You ok?" My dad asked.
"Yeah,just nervous."
My dad smiled. "Don't worry, since its your first raid you won't have to do much,if you don't want to that is."
"Really?" My dad nodded.
"Yep, on their first raid, initiates are usually supposed to just watch. This way they can get an idea of what its like and gain a little bit of experience. Although, there are the occasional Huntsmen who are confident enough and skilled enough to actually get in on the action, instead of just sitting on the sidelines," he explained.
