"That is, by far, the worst idea I've ever heard."

"Bruce!"

"Scarlet, listen to me. We can't just go where we want anymore. How would we even get your collar off? It's stuck there forever!"

"Bruce, come on. We can pull it off. We're the dynamic duo, remember? If we're able to keep this many secrets, what's stopping us from keeping this one?"

"It's much more complicated than that."

"I know, but we can figure it out. Together."

"Scarlet..." He rubbed his face with a hand, seeming tired. She wouldn't blame him for that. She was always tired.

"Bruce, you have to trust me..." She gave him begging eyes. "Please?"

He looked up and studied her face. Seeing how much she really wanted this, he sighed and closed his eyes, shaking his head. "Alright, you win. You win. We'll find the human and the jayman."

"Thank you, friend! I promise, you won't regret this."

"I already have."

They acted like they had nothing up their sleeve, as usual. And--as usual--no one suspected a single thing. It was difficult for Bruce, because he could get caught way easier. Scarlet, however, was usually scavenging, so she was hardly ever at base. Yet somehow, Bruce was able to get away with anything. She never knew how he never got caught, he just miraculously didn't. Scarlet's job for the base was to find valuable things for the leader, so that he could continue to build his Empire, and strengthen his bases. Scarlet found it pretty pointless to rule this dimension, or any other for that matter. They all sounded like crap.

The plan was simple, really. Once they were stalked up on supplies, they'd dodge the security camera's at night and fly off to where Scarlet last saw the the strange pair. From there, they'd follow any tracks or clues that show the two had been there, and then find them. All together, they'd protect each other. Bruce could be like a father to the boy, and Scarlet can learn from and teach the jayman. They could find others then on, and start a revolution. It was a good plan. To her, at least. Bruce was apprehensive, and he had a heavy conscience due to this. It made her feel sorry for him, but she knew it would all be worth it.

Along with food, Bruce had been pocketing canisters for Scarlet to help her humanity time go longer. He had also been trying to disable her collar, which would make it impossible to zap her. That, by far, would be the best thing in the world to her. Several weeks later, everything was set. Bruce snuck into Scarlet's dorm and placed a canister into the slot of her collar, freeing her from her mutant.

"Ready?" He asked, putting a pack on her.

"As I'll ever be." She sighed, watching him.

He nodded, putting a pack on himself. "Okay, then. Let's go."

The door opened quietly, and they looked down the dark halls. Scarlet's horns glowed a soft reddish-orange, but Bruce had wrapped rags around them so they wouldn't be visible. He nodded, indicating for them to continue. Quietly, they made their way to the launch pads, avoiding the watchful cameras. Everything was going according to plan, and they were able to get to Scarlet's launch pad safely.

Bruce looked around, then nodded again. "Okay, I think we're good. Go ahead and spread your wings."

Scarlet let her wings grow, stretching them as wide as she possibly could. In doing so, her wings bumped into a cup on the desk, and it fell with a loud, hallow crash. They froze as it echoed in the dead halls, hearts pounding. Bruce swallowed, beginning to put Scarlet's armour on quickly.
