The next few weeks flew by and before they knew it, betty and jughead were back in the doctors office having their twelve week scan. "So is there any questions?" Doctor brown asked as she handed them their sonogram. "Erm no? Juggie do you?" Betty asked as jughead handed her some paper towels to wipe the gel off her now small bump. "No I think you've answered everything, thank you" Jug smiled, reaching his hand out to help Betty down. "Okay we'll see you in a few weeks!" Doctor brown smiled when they left. When they were walking back to jugheads truck Betty was fidgeting. "You okay betts?" Jug asked. "What? Oh yeah.. my clothes are just really uncomfortable" she sighed. In the last week she had what they called 'popped' and now had a very noticeable bump, small but noticeable. "Maybe it's time to go maternity shopping?" Jug suggested. "Your right" she said as they got into the truck. She pulled her phone out and texted Veronica:
Betty: I need to go shopping for maternity clothes are you busy? X
Veronica: no! Shall I meet you at the mall? X
Betty: I can be are yours in 5 x
Veronica: Okay! X
"Can you drop me at Veronica's please? We're going shopping" Betty asked jughead. "Of course" he smiled and started the truck and drove off. "Have a good time, I'm only a call away if you need me" he said and leaned over to kiss her. "Okay. Love you" she said as she opened the car door. "Love you too" he said as she got out.
At the mall Betty had a whole new wardrobe that Veronica insisted on paying for, much to Betty's protests. They were now sat in a small coffee shop but Veronica had to get up to take a call. Betty sat thinking back on the day; Veronica had dragged her into Baby stores and gushed over all the cute baby items but Betty felt very overwhelmed by the whole experience, she wanted jughead with her to calm her insecurities. She was broken out of her thoughts by Veronica coming back. "B! I'm so sorry I have business to attend to but I can have Smithers drop you back?" She said apologetically. "No it's okay I'm going to shop a bit more, maybe invite Toni" Betty smiled. Veronica said goodbye with a promise to call Betty later and left. So Betty text Toni, she knew she wasn't working:
Betty: meet me at the mall? Xox
Toni: on my way!💜
Toni arrived about 20 minutes later and they had more coffee, decaf for Betty and then mooched around the shops some more. "Sorry for calling you, shopping isn't very relaxing with V she can be very full on" Betty sighed, rubbing her stomach. Toni smiled at Betty, Remembering how anxious Betty got when Veronica planned the wedding. "It's okay, I'm glad to spend some girl time" Toni smiled and linked arms with Betty. "Me too! We should do this at least once a week" Betty smiled.
When they got back to the bar, Toni went to start her shift and Betty went up to the apartment. Jughead was off the couch as soon as he heard her come in and helped her with her bags. They took them into the bedroom and jughead helped to put away her new clothes. "Did you have a good time?" He asked. "Yeah, then Veronica left so I invited Toni" Betty smiled. "That's nice" Jug said with a smile, loving how close they were. "So do you like all my new clothes?" She asked and she sat on the bed, letting him put away her clothes. "I do, very much" he smirked. She asked about his day and he told her, folding clothes and placing them in the draw and wardrobe; he turned around when he'd finished talking and found her fast asleep cuddled up into her new pregnancy pillow he brought her recently. He smiled and kissed her head before placing a Blanket over her and continuing to sort out her clothes.
