afternoon
I walk into the carnival, hand in hand with Evan. You see, Evan has had plenty of boyfriends and girlfriends but I've had no experience.
I just hope we can pass as a couple.
Okay, fine. I'm not the best at coming up with revenge plans but we tried our best to make Evan look like some other guy. And I think it worked out because my step-mom and dad couldn't recognize him.
I sigh heavily, leaning into Evan's shoulder.
"What if he's not even here?" I groan as he chuckles beside me. He wraps his arm around my shoulders and pulls me close to him.
"Then we can spend the night going on rides. I know you like going on them as much as I like your baking." Evan gives me a cheesy smile.
I raise an eyebrow. "So not at all?"
Evan elbows me playfully as I let out a laugh. I smile at him.
"Thank you for doing this," I murmur.
Evan gives me a soft kiss on the top of my head. My heart swells with happiness. Suddenly, Evan stops in his tracks although if we had seen Zach, it would've ruined the effect.
"Oh hey, Marla." I look up, my eyes wide. Zach stands in front of us with his ever-so-sexy hair, his hands tucked in his pockets. His cologne smells great.
"Evan." Zach smiles at him as he makes a reach for my wrist. I quickly slap his hand away, tucking myself farther into Evan.
Zach recoils in hurt. He looks at me, his forehead creased in confusion.
"I... I gave you a chance. I can't believe you'd do this to me," I spit. "After what you said to me, I thought you'd treat me right, especially from what you did to me.
"I did like you, Zach. A lot. I thought this could be something other than a one time thing. Please... J-Just leave me alone..." My voice cracks as tears start spilling down my cheeks. Evan wraps his arm around me. Zach tries to reach towards me but Evan turns his back to him.
"What did I do?" Zach asks, pure confusion and frustration in his voice.
"I think you know what you did, asshat," Evan growls, ushering me off towards the parking lot. My shoulders shake from the pain, Evan consoling me.
Zach yells my name but I ignore it.
