That was my plan all along

Matthew Patrick has always been a hopeless romantic. He was always doing cute, funny, cringily cheese things to make his wife smile. This was one of those occasions. It was the first time since Stephanie had given birth that the couple would go out on a date. Matthew had to make it special! So he had this whole plan in mind. His parents were in town at the time and they volunteered to watch the baby. With this very important part of the plan under control it was up to him to deliver the rest. He first went to the store. He gathered all the supplies he needed before heading home to ask his wife out on a date. It would be a surprise to her! He was just so excited to surprise her that he went the extra step to make it extra special.

When Matthew arrived home he found Stephanie lounging on the couch. She was reading a book with a small smile on her face. She didn't notice him yet so he took a moment to admire his wife. She was truly beautiful by every meaning of the word. After a moment Matthew cleared his throat. Stephanie looked up at him and gave him a gorgeous smile.

"Matthew! Welcome home!" Stephanie greeted him as she made a spot for him to sit on the couch.

"Hey baby, are you hot cheese? Because I really like hot cheese. Also your hot!" Matthew responded as he took a spot next to her in the cheesiest voice possible. As he told her the reference he put a bag with his supplies for the date on the floor.

"Oh my gosh! Matthew!" Stephanie groaned rolling her eyes as she suppressed a laugh.

"Dang girl! Whatcha been eating?! FRUIT?!?!" Matthew said in the same cheesy voice as before causing Stephanie to howl with laughter.

"Stephanie you look tired. Is it because you have been running through my mind?" Matthew asked winking at his wife who smacked him lightly on the shoulder.

He could tell that she wasn't that mad as a bright smile was still spread across her face as she continued to laugh at his shenanigans.

"Stephanie. I have a serious question." Matthew said looking very serious all of a sudden.

"What is it Matthew?" Stephanie asked attempting to pull herself together.

"I lost my number. Can I have yours?" He asked with a deadpan expression.

This only caused Stephanie to erupt with laughter once again. Her beautiful laughter rang through the air. He hasn't heard her laugh this hard in what seems like a life time.

"Matthew what is in that bag?" Stephanie asked pointing to the bag at Matthew's feet.

Matthew smirked as he picked up some limes from out of the bag. He put them on the floor only to pick them up again.

"I'm sorry. I am bad at pick up limes." He replied turning to Stephanie and giving her a dazzling smile.

"That has got to be the lamest pick-up line in existence." Stephanie said through breathy bursts of laughter. At this point tears were rolling down her cheeks because she was laughing so hard.

"Don't worry. That's just plan A!" Matthew said with a proud smile on his face puffing his chest up.

"So what's plan B?" Stephanie asked slightly concerned.

"To take you hostage." Matthew said with a straight face as he scooped her up bridle style along with the bag (with the limes inside).

"What! Matthew! Put me down!" Stephanie yelped half-heartedly as she knew her husband wouldn't do anything to hurt her.

"Do you like food? Do you like romantic outings? I can provide both, therefore you will be my date." Matthew said casually not giving her any time to answer as he managed to get her into the car.

"Matthew!" Stephanie exclaimed kissing her on the cheek as he sat down in the drivers set. "What are we going to do for this date? "

"Well I was thinking we could go to a drive-in movie?" Matthew asked more unsure of himself now that he said this out loud.

"Sounds perfect!" Stephanie replied flashing Matthew a smile.

OH look at that! It is an update! Surprise! I hope you like it. Thank you to everyone who helped me with pick-up lines! Heaven knows I don't know any! :P That's all I have to say. Bye! ~ Gem <3
