Elves In Between the River Bed

What?" I asked.

I wont tell them about the baby." He answered.

I'm having twins." I replied and he jumped back.

He took a deep breath and sat back down beside me. "I wont let them take your children Tera, I'll help you through this, I'll protect them, when they're born, I will have to take them, somewhere else."

To Winter!" I said and he nodded.

Your children will be safely taken to Winter to be taken care of." He answered.

You wont tell Poppy or Magnus about my twins?" I asked.

Of course not, I wouldn't do that to you." Reaver answered.

But, what about your job as a guard?" I asked.

They wont find out, and after the babies are born, and are taken to Winter safely, I will go back to the elemental palace every two weeks to collect information about your children so I can report back to you, and I will deliver messages to them." He answered.

You would do that for me?" I asked.

Yes." He answered.

Why do you care so much?" I asked.

I care because you deserve a friend." He answered. "You are alone up here, in a prison, and what did you do to deserve this? Receive things that you deserve? Have a happy life? Helping elves out? None of that deserves this treatment."

I'm glad I got you as a caretaker, and not a different guard." I said and he smiled.

I kinda wish I wasn't right now, because if I ever do get caught I am sure Poppy will kill me." He chuckled.

If you ever get caught? You said you wouldn't." I said.

I know but, there is always a chance of something bad happening, but, I am glad that I will be giving your children a chance." He explained.

As long as I am not causing you any trouble." I replied and he laughed.

Is this not trouble?" He chuckled.

I know we were supposed to finish that game but, It is getting really late, I am tired of worrying so, I will just go to bed." I said and he nodded.

Would you like me to stay with you?" Reaver asked.

You really don't have to do anything for me, you have done quite enough already." I answered. "But if you would not mind there is a spare mattress in the closet."

I will stay anyways, just to make sure you don't make a daring escape plan to jump out the window, land safely on the grass, kill a woman who looks like you, switch clothes, leave the dead you on the ground in front of the tower and run." He chuckled.

Good idea, because that is exactly what I am going to do with twins growing inside of me." I said.

How did you find out anyways?" He asked.

Find out what?"

That you were having twins?" He asked.

A witch told me." I answered.

A witch? You've found a witch?"

She's kind of a friend, but she told me about the twins." I answered.

So, you're friends with a witch?" He asked.

Yes." I answered.

So, if anyone was sick or dying, could she heal the?" Reaver asked.

Yes, but, only those worthy of her saving." I answered.

Wow, that is, amazing." He replied and I slightly giggled.

There's a lot you don't know about me, I'm also a warrior." I said.

Are you secretly an assassin?" He asked with a chuckle.

Yes." I answered and his eyes grew wide. "That was a lie, I am also a liar." I giggled.

Ok then, I am a guard as you know." Reaver chuckled.

What do you do on your free time?" I asked.

Free time?" He asked.

When you don't have to work." I said.

Oh, I have never really had any free time, I go home sleep, and then I go back to work and work for the rest of the day, then I go to bed and the cycle continues." He answered.

So you never get a day off?" I asked.

I guess not, except for right now." He answered.

That does not sound fair." I said.

Well, not everything is fair I suppose, but everything for me is fair, except that I am in a prison for being me." I replied.

You just have a good heart, you ignore that bad things and make them good." He explained.

Then if I am so happy, why don't you do that too?" I asked.

I don't think anything of it really." He answered.

You should, you deserve a break after everything you have done for them." I said.

Are you really sure?" He asked.

You deserve it, and if they do not do that for you then, they dont deserve to have you, you deserve to be happy, and if they wont let you have a break then, they dont need you." I answered.

You are right, in the morning I will go back to the palace and demand a break." He said.

Oh I would not demand it, my sister might have you killed for speaking that way." I replied.

Good idea, I will request it and then I will protest for it and threaten them that I will leave if they dont." He answered and I nodded.

We sat there for a while then he knelt down in front of me and held my hands. "It will get better, maybe your sister will see the bright sides of things and will set you free before the twins are born."

I doubt it, she never calms down, she's my older sister and she did not get the rights to the throne when I did." I explained.

We sat there for a while in silence, thinking, and then we both looked into each others eyes and I stopped breathing for a second as we starred into each others eyes in silence. I did not understand this elf, but he just seemed like the one.
All of a sudden I was trapped in a kiss with Reaver and we sat there with each other, the rest of the night, thinking about our life's decisions...
