Elves In Between the River Bed

Chapter 17

I woke up and I looked over to see if Grammy was still dead and I saw that there was no body. "Where is Grammy!?"

It is fine, she has been taken away and is being buried this evening." Moray explained and I sighed.

Have you seen Caspian?"

No, I looked around the village, I have not seen him anywhere." She answered.

He has to be at the palace." I sighed as I got up and opened the door.

Where are you going?" She asked.

To kill the king." I answered as I slammed the door behind me.

Moray followed me out and tried to stop me but I only pushed past her as if she were just a tree branch in the way.

As I approached the palace entryway I looked up and studied it before going inside. Guards were waiting inside and I only ignored them but they stopped me from going any further.

Who dares sneak past the greatest Water guards?!" The guard that stopped me roared.

I am Princess River of the water elves, true heir to the throne and I am not sneaking past you." I hissed.

Lies, Princess River was found dead in her bedroom on the night of the murders by King Caspian himself." The guard announced.

Caspian is here?" I asked.

He is King Caspian!" Cried the guard.

No murderer is king!" I snapped. "Let me through, I have some unfinished business to attend to."

You shall not pass!" The guard roared and I only glared.

Who dares tell the water princess what to do! My parents were king and queen and Caspian just killed the eldest queen!" I cried. "Now let me through or you shall all receive the death penalty when I become queen." The guards somehow recognized me suddenly and allowed me to pass by.
I climbed the stairs angrily and burst into the throne room. I went up to the throne and broke the glass casing that had been used to protect the sword that was on display. I grabbed the sword and moved away so that Caspian could see what I had. "You killed her." I hissed. "You killed my grandmother, you killed your own mother!"

She was nothing to me, and have you seen that beautiful face of Pearl?" He asked.

Pearl is free from you!" I roared. "She is not your toy!"

Alright then, do you have anything to say?" He asked.

Yes, give me my throne." I hissed.

Caspian chuckled. "Now why would I do that?"

Because if you do not, I will kill you." I snapped.

What would you do if I did?" He asked.

You will receive the death penalty and will live for one last year." I answered.

Now now, that does not seem fair, if I allow you to become queen I should get a reward, not one last year to live." He replied.

And what would you want?"

I do not know, maybe, I could be your king." He answered.

You are disgusting, another reason why you deserve to die!" I snapped. "Give me the throne or you die painfully!"

Fine, take the throne, but I will not die for I am immortal!" Caspian declared.

Well then, I suppose we will see about that." I hissed as I slashed his throat with the sword, cutting a beautiful clean cut on his throat, the sword did not even have one bit of blood on it (Which is most likely impossible).
I watched his body slide from the throne. "I am sorry I had to do this, but you are no king, you are a criminal, a murderer, and a disgusting beast, this is what you will receive in return of your crimes."
Moray came running in suddenly and she gasped at Caspian's body.

What happened!?" She cried.

I have finished him." I answered.

I thought you were better than that, I thought that peace was the only solution." Moray said.

Well, it is the right solution, but this needed to be done." I hissed. "Now my family can rest in peace knowing that Caspian will do no more harm in our world, and will receive a far worse punishment in hell." I explained.

You have become so dark, I do not understand." She said.

My duties as queen are to protect the kingdom, I have done so and succeeded, but killing will receive no reward, I shall live with a new evil within myself for as long as I shall live." I explained.
Moray nodded and we both went down to the ball room where guards were waiting. "Your king is dead!" I announced. "And all shall be well now that he is where he belongs. I, princess River of the water elves, will take the throne, and I have murderer my uncle, he has done great evil and will receive his punishment, we have all been freed."

A child can not rule an entire kingdom." A guard hissed.

But even though I am a child, I have killed Caspian and am the only heir to the throne now that Caspian is dead." I answered.

We shall never bow down to a queen who killed our glorious king!" Another guard roared.

Then may your pain rot within you, anyone who loved Caspian as a king is step forward!" I cried and only three guards stepped forwards. "You three are now no longer guards and you three are no longer welcome in this palace."

River, I do not think this is wise." Moray quietly said.

Shush and listen, I want the crown and I would like to continue my duties as queen." I ordered and she bowed her head slightly before running off. What had the world done to my innocence? Why had I just killed a member of my own family? Why was I being so rude to the kingdoms guards and those who supported Caspian? Was peace not my motivation? Did I not want to live in harmony with others? Would I ever be the same River I had been before? Only the future would ever know what would happen to me...
