Elves In Between the River Bed

Chapter 8

I screamed in my cell. Why did this have to happen to me. Why did she have to be so mean?! I never did anything to her! All I wanted was to be free and happy, I wanted nothing to do with Poppy's life.
I heard the cell door open and I looked over to see Reaver. "Go away." I hissed.

I wasn't going to let her hurt you." He said.

Stop caring so much! You're not my husband! Winter is! He is the father of my children! Not you!" I snapped. "And I would rather be in pain then let my demon sister take my children away from me."

She already knew!" He snapped.

So?! What if she didn't know?! You promised you wouldn't tell her! You promised that my children would always be safe!" I cried.

I just wanted to protect you." He replied.

It doesn't matter now, she knows and the twins are going to be stuck with Poppy." I sobbed.

I'll fix this, I promise."

Just! Don't help! I dont need you!" I snapped.

Please Tera, I'm sorry." He said.

Sorry doesn't do anything for me! It doesn't keep Poppy from planning her fake baby shower so elves feel hay about , sorry wont stop her from taking my children." I cried.

Well it will make me feel just a little bit better." He joked.

I started crying my heart out, I had no way of escaping this. My children would be taken away from me and I would have to stay in that prison for the rest of my sad little life, where Poppy got everything she ever wanted, but then she wouldn't be happy because she would still feel like she didn't have what she wanted and then she would want to kill me. "I wish that this had never happened to me."

I promise I'll find a way to fix this, please forgive me." He said.

I have to, you did nothing wrong, you only wanted to protect me from being further abused and then killed, at least the twins get to live a happy life, it's better than all of us dying." I replied.

Tera, I'm really sorry this happened." He apologized.

It's alright." I answered.

I wont let Poppy take the twins, I promise, I'll do whatever it takes to keep them safe." He said.

This is why I love you." I giggled. "You're perfect!"

Wait, you said that you loved me." He said.

Yeah, haven't I said so before?" I asked.

No, I think this is the first time." Reaver answered.

Woops." I said.

I love you too, and I will find a way to set you free." He chuckled.

How, you'll be punished by Poppy." I replied.

I don't care what she will do, I only care about you and the twins." He answered.

You really are the perfect elf for me." I said and he smiled.

The next day....

I woke up and I yawned, but I felt a pain that was making me feel so horrible suddenly, felt like I was dying. "REAVER!!!!!!!" I cried and he awoke immediately.

What's wrong?" He asked.

I think, I think they're coming." I cried.

Shoot! I haven't even made a plan up yet!" He said as he took my hand and dragged me towards the cell door and he unlocked it, for some reason I didn't understand why he had locked it in the first place. He dragged me down the steps quickly and I was confused of why he hadn't done this earlier.

Where are we going?" I asked.

I can't let you have them here, it's to risky, we have to get farther away, closer to the elemental kingdom!" He answered as he unlocked the door to the outside world that I hadn't seen in months.

He ran with me towards a barn where a carriage was just outside with horses attached.
Reaver let go of my hand and kicked the elf off who was just about to set off for trading with the other kingdoms. He took my hand again and opened the carriage door, letting me inside.

Whatever you do, don't open this door." He said as he unlocked the cuffs on my wrists.
He left and soon the carriage was moving.

I could hear the trumpets wailing of the fire kingdom, the guards had heard that I was escaping, and the alarm didn't sound like it was a nice goodbye, it was to alarm Poppy that, I was trying to leave. The carriage started moving quickly and I was falling against the doors as the carriage took sharp turns.
I was fearful that the carriage would tip over and the twins and I would die before we even escaped. I assumed after an hour that we were close but I could feel the road getting bumpier, which meant that there was no road at all, because all kingdoms had decided that they wanted all roads to be perfectly smooth for the luxury of the kings and Queens that might be on vacation to other kingdoms.

Suddenly the carriage stopped and Reaver swung the door open and quickly pulled me out. "We have to run off road." He said and I shook my head in disbelief.

There wont be enough time!" I cried.

We still have enough before you can't completely stop walking." Reaver replied.

We should take the horses then." I said and he shook his head.

They'll see the hoof marks, but that gives me an idea." He answered as he ran over to one of the horses.

What will you do?" I asked.

They will think that we took the horses, since one will be missing, they'll look for the hooves, then they'll follow the horses tracks." Reaver explained.

We wont get far enough before they catch the horse, it will take too long." I said.

We have to try!" He snapped as he untied the rope and yelled at the horse which caused it to run away quickly, not realizing that we wouldn't hurt it. He grabbed my arm and dragged me quickly through the forest. An hour passed by before I had to completely stop, because it was already happening...
