Elves In Between the River Bed

Chapter 26

I waited in the garden, under the soft light of the glowing moon and sighed. I believed that she was not going to arrive, but then off in the distance I saw her figure and immediately felt a shiver down my spine. She was here, and soon, she was standing in front of me, her dark figure.

So, what is this?" Gloria asked with a hiss.

I called you out here to warn you." I answered.

About what?" She asked with a small chuckle.

About yourself." I answered. "Gloria, do you not see what has happened? Winter had taken most of the good from you and turned you towards his ruling. You are his pawn, and he is moving you around the chess board like it is nothing but a game, and I am on the other side, the Queen, and he wants to kill me by sending out more of his pawns or even his nights, to kill me, because he knows that if he tries to kill me I might be able to kill him." I explained. "I need you to join us to defeat your father and send him somewhere where he can not hurt anyone else. He has already killed so many of my subjects, and probably more to come."

This is crazy, I am not turning against my father." Gloria hissed. "It is not proper, and I must not do it."

Please, you will be a reason why our world might end." I pleaded. "Do not let him use you."

Maybe I like being his pawn, maybe I like being wanted." She growled. "Maybe I want someone to at least care a little about me and not my stupid brother!"

Shh! I do not want anyone to hear us." I said quietly.

I will speak to him about this, and then you will see how caring he is, he will not send you away, he will only forgive you." Gloria replied with tears forming in her eyes.

Gloria, please do not tell him, he is going to find a way to kill me."

My father, would never, kill you." She hissed. "But I, certainly would."

You would kill your own sister?" I asked as I slowly walked backwards.

You are not my sister, and I would do anything to protect my father." She snapped. "He is the greatest, and I know that he is not using me, he is teaching me! He is taking care of me!"

But he does not love you." I replied as she cornered me.

You better stay quiet, and you better not act on this, because if I catch you anywhere close to my father alone again, I will kill you, and I will not hesitate." She growled. "Now leave before I snap your small little neck."

Even though I was much older and slightly taller, Gloria looked stronger and bigger, she made me feel like a small little insect, that would be easy to smoosh.

Do you understand?"

I understand." I gulped as she backed away.

Good, now, you should get back to your bedroom, because my father will be coming to talk to you soon, and I do not want him to be angrier, when he finds out that you are gone." Gloria snapped.

I nodded but bean to run away as fast as I could.

Consider this as a head start!" Gloria called after me as she ran towards the palace.

It was not long at all when I felt an even colder presence, he was nearby, and I was out in the open, running around the villages. I could see frost forming on the ground and fear began to consume me. I kept running, getting faster, and I did not stop, but I soon started to slip on ice as it formed beneath my feet. I could hear Winter's roars and I quickly jumped off of the roads of the village and I bolted towards the forest where no one would be able to see me, and sadly, there was no where for me to hide, I could not climb trees, my mother had not lived long enough to teach me how, so I had to keep running in the dark, under the cover of the trees.
I could hear a river nearby, and I ran towards it. A good thing about Water elves was that, they could breath underwater for at least half an hour, and they were excellent swimmers, and thankfully, I could do all of that nicely, so there would be no problem, but then again, Winter would easily be able to freeze the water and let me drown, but, this was my only shot at getting away.
I ran closer and closer, until I could see the rushing water not to far away, and I bolted towards it. As I got to the edge I snuck a look behind me and gasped at what had happened. The forest was completely covered in ice, it was all very thick, and there was no way of breaking it easily. I jumped into the water without another thought and began swimming. I had no idea how long I could hold my breath under fear, I would probably drown under the water while trying to escape Winters wrath. I could feel the water getting colder and I looked above me to see ice forming above me. I screamed under the water and swam faster, but the ice followed closely behind me. I was right about losing my breath under fear, I was starting to lose it, and it would not be long until I would drown. I quickly jumped out of the water and hid behind a bush before I saw the large white figure raging down the side of the river, looking for me under the water as the ice covered the river. He still thought that I was under there, but, luckily, I had gotten away, and I would live another day, hopefully.
As soon as Winter was out of sight, I jumped out from behind the bush and began running back towards the palace, where, I would hopefully find Reaver or at least Frost...
