Elves In Between the River Bed

Chapter 10

Before I start the chapter, I have to explain that it will now be River's POV for most of it since Tera died, the next book will be specifically about how the twins had grown and their lifestyle. It will be Winters POV for this chapter though. Anyways, enjoy! -Deadrosepetal....

I frowned at the elf standing in front of me. Wasn't he a loyal guard or general of King Magnus and Queen Poppy of the Fire kingdom. It appeared that he was holding to newborn elves with care. "What is it you wish to speak with me?"

I, your majesty, have come from the Fire kingdom, where your wife was held prisoner." The elf said and I glared.

Where is she?" I asked with a growl that gurgled in my throat.

Hopefully, safe and back at the palace." The strange elf said quietly, suddenly looking at the ground sadly.

Why is it that you have infants with you?" I asked coldly.

Your majesty, Tera has instructed that I must bring them to you for safety reasons." He answered. "These are your children."

Children." I hissed. "A great Ice King like me doesn't have children, this is a lie."

King Winter, please, Tera has given birth hours ago and now, hopefully she is back at the palace." He replied.

Why do you say hopefully? She should be here!" I snapped.

Either she goes back to prison or she dies!" The elf cried. "I'm only hoping that Poppy brought her back to the palace alive."

Why do you care for my wife?" I asked.

If you really are a good husband I suggest you stop claiming your territory and demanding that I stop talking with care about your wife!" He snapped.

How dare you talk to the elemental king that way!" I roared.

What did Tera see in you?" The elf asked.

I saved her from being a dragon forever!" I snapped.

No! I did! You were just there because we had captured you at the time!" He cried.

Take these dirty infants away from me." I demanded and the elf frowned.

How dare you speak of your family this way!" The elf snapped. "As Tera would want at this moment, I will take River and the twins to Tera's home, where I will raise the children on my own while I wait for Tera to come back to me!"

Pardon? Did you say that you will wait for Tera to come back to you?" I asked.

Yes."

Why do you speak of my wife as someone you love?" I asked.

Because while you were here ruling away on your own terms, forgetting about the real ruler of the kingdom, I was falling in love with Tera, and she fell in love with me!' The elf snapped and I gasped.

That's impossible!" I cried. "Tera's curse was broken because she saw me first! I'm her true love!"

Believe what you wish Winter, but no one is going to believe you, and when I rescue Tera tomorrow she'll tell you everything." He said.

You will go nowhere!" I snapped.

I will do as I wish, and I am going to take care of these children like a good father should, even if I'm not their real father." The elf hissed as he stomped out of the palace.

I sat on my throne disgusted by this elf that had intruded my palace, he belonged in the fire palaces dungeons, to rot away with the rats.
A thought crossed my mind and I grinned evilly. "River!"

She quickly came running over to me and bowed. "Yes father? How may I assist you?"

I have excellent news! I'm returning you to the Water kingdom!" I cheered.

No." She said. "You can't do that, they tried to kill me!"

Yes but, they might not but, if they do I'm sure they'll prepare a burial for you." I replied.

You're not my father! Once my mother returns, she'll have you thrown out of here!" She cried.

Your mother adores me, is that not why she married me?" I asked.

My mother would never love one who only wants power! You will never be elemental king!" She roared as two guards rushed to her sides.

Seize her." I ordered of them and they grabbed her arms tightly.

My mother will help! She'll come back!" River cried.

Haven't you heard? Your aunt just called this morning to tell us the news about your dearest mother." I said. "She's been killed."

NO!" River screamed. "You liar!"

Your majesty, is this true?" A guard asked and I nodded.

If you have problems with your old queen being dead then, I shall kill you while you stand." I hissed and the guards nodded with fear. "Take her to the water kingdom where she will face her doom."

River screamed as she was dragged away from the palace and I only laughed. Finally no one would ever be able to stop me, everyone was out of the way and I could control the kingdom, and overthrow the ice queen.
I laughed away on my thrown and I knew that guards were listening. Tera's stupid heart was now broken by a knife and I would never have to see her again! I had never fallen in love with that crazy elf, nor would I fall in love with anyone else. I waited for more news but yet, no more news came, Tera was truly dead, she hadn't been hit past the heart, she hadn't gotten up and slowly made her way here to me, she was finally dead, and all could b forgotten since, I would make her forgotten.
Guards were already at the eleven library taking books about Tera or ever mentioning Tera or how a forest elf came to the elemental kingdom to become queen, all books that mentioned anything of her, were burned in public.
"This! Is what happened to our queen! Her soul had burned away and she was brutally murdered earlier this morning, from now on, no one shall ever speak of the old queen ever again, it is just too heartbreaking to remember." I shouted and I could hear murmuring in the crowds but I only smiled as I slipped away from all who could see me...
