[6] He Tried

Zhengting’s eyes widen and he was really shocked about Xukun’s choice of words. He was not like that 2 years ago. He won’t say dirty things, he won’t say that to him. He’s a nice guy but he guess he already changed.

Xukun giggled. “Calm down, I’m kidding,” he said, still not letting Zhengting go. “but you can if you want to.”

“Shut up, asshole! What exactly do you want from me?” He asks. Xukun sighed and let go of him and Zhengting’s distance as he go back to his chair.

“Chill. I just.. want to talk.”

“We’re talking.”

“No. I mean, about us.”

“We’re done, Xukun. 2 years already passed. What should we talk about?”

“Won’t you ask me what happened to me after the night we broke up?” Suddenly, Xukun started to sound so soft. Zhengting sits again on the chair in front of Xukun’s desk. He looks down on the floor and not saying anything. Xukun sighed.

“I tried to forget you. After that night, I decided to accept the opportunity to finish my last 2 years in studying abroad. I went to US with my hopes that being without here can make me forget you but I was wrong.. totally wrong,” Zhengting looked at him. “2 years, Zhengting. I can’t fool myself. I was miserable while you’re here, living a happy life with that asshole Wenjun. So I decided to come back, I’m here now. I’m going to get you back. In every possible way.” Xukun said seriously while Zhengting is trying to absorb all of those to his mind.

He closed his eyes and sighed. “Can you stop this?” he said to Xukun and looked at him again. “If you’re tricking me, this is not funny. This is bullshit. And can you please stop calling Wenjun asshole because he’s not.” he tried to sound calm as much as possible but he failed.

“Zhengting, why? Why are you the one getting mad here when you were the one who cheated? When you were the one who did wrong?” Xukun’s words striked him. Why is he mad? He don’t know. The only thing he knows is that he shouldn’t go back to Xukun anymore.

“I-I.. shit. Just stop, Xukun. I will not work here anymore. I’m going home.” he walks out again. But a weird feeling gets into him, he’s actually waiting for Xukun to grab and stop him again… and he can’t deny the fact that he was affected by Xukun’s words today. It made him guilty, it made him.. confused.

“No, Zhengting. Shit. Don’t be affected. Think about Wenjun.” he said to himself.
