When the storm ended, Kyoko smiled at James and messed up his hair. She could see woman, men and children going back into the forest.
"Big brother," James said as the blue eyed man picked him up, then Kyoko could see. He was an older teen, but he looked older then his years.
Going closer to the town, she could see that people were panicking. Crowds of people were screaming names, crying in grief or anger. The seal had to be done by a Wind Mage, even if it wasn't, it was a seal placed with the intent of injuring the town's population.
But why now? From what Stanley had told her, those behind the capture of Ice Country had never attacked an entire town with force and had silently picked off those who'd try to get others to fight them.
Unless they were trying to scare Stanley into giving up finishing his bridge. She doubted they'd destroy what had been built, leave it there as a reminder of what their hope had brought. Make people afraid to do anything, since all action would do is bring death and pain to those around them.
"This is bad," she whispered to herself, freezing as she spotted a small toddler by himself. Blood going down his face as he cried on the top of his lungs.
Unsealing the energy she had stored in her seals, she ran towards the small boy, placing a hand on his forehead and smiling at him, he stopped crying when her hands started to glow with a faint golden hue.
He must have lost his parents in the crowd, since she couldn't spot an adult near him. Nor could she see him reacting to any of the names being called out.
The small boy, this small toddler, was one of the few who were still alive in the area. One of the few she would be able to save, his injuries were easily treated. Meaning he wasn't in the middle of the attack.
"Little one," she whispered when he looked at her with tear swelled brown eyes. Helping him to sit in her lap, his head resting against her chest and showed him the golden glow around her hands before she healed his fractured arm.
She smiled when they started giggling, putting their hands on top of hers. A woman sharing the same brown eyes and hair ran up to them, pushing her through the crows. Relief in her eyes as she spotted the toddler, but sadness when she looked at the bodies of a man and woman.
"Auntie Jeanne," he shouted running towards the woman as soon as Kyoko had helped him up. Jeanne had frozen when she looked at her nephew.
"Matt, my beautiful Matt," Jeanne said, Kyoko barely hearing her over the crying and the screaming. Jeanne walked up to her, placing her hand on her shoulder. "Thank you, thank you for saving my brother's child."
"Where's Mum and Dad?" Matt asked.
"They want on a trap to the Spirit world dear," Jeanne told him, before picking him up and running towards the forest. Jeanne must be one of Stanley's neighbours. She had seen a few houses scattered around while she looked for herbs.
"Move out of the way," a woman screamed, almost pushing Kyoko over as she standing up. A small child in her arms, blood staining her clothing.
"Hang on," Kyoko screamed as she ran up to the woman, her ankle bothering her as she did so. Unsealing her staff, she flew after her and grabbed her sleeve. Pulling her out of the crowds of people, closer to the river.
"I have to go," the woman screamed at her, turning around to look her in the eyes. Floating down low enough to look at the child in her arms.
Short black hair and skin that paling far too quickly. The bleeding was coming from his side, a piece of metal was in-bedded in his side.
