"Another one wanting revenge," she whispered to herself, dropping the chain between her fingers. It was late at night, so it wasn't like Kane was expecting to be attacked. "Uisce's getting worse, damn it."
The most that blanketed the ground had helped her sneak up on him, then again this part of the forest was called The Sorrow. Its thick fog was common even in the dry season. Trees grew closer together because no one wanted to go into, not with all the rumoured ghosts of those from the Mage Wars that ended around seven hundred years ago.
"It's sad that he was a murderous bastard. He looked like Ruby's type," Kyoko whispered to herself looking at the butterfly made out of amber, small onxys dotted on its wings.
Kane Black had murdered a small group of travellers, she had found their bodies even through it looked like they had been dead for days. What pissed her off, was that he had left the children to almost starve to death. If she had found them a day later, they wouldn't have made it. The youngest of them being two years old as he clang to his sister's skirt.
Before hunting him down, she had made sure the children were accepted into a near-by village. The small village of Yama were happy to take them in. Sapphire and ruby glowing on her staff as she recalled the idiot calling her a child-murderer. Stupid idiot.
Like she said, it was a shame. He was tall, broad shoulders, tanned skin and strong arms. Dark hair and eyes, something Ruby always looked for in man.
Personally, Kyoko didn't get it. Since most man who looked like this were always pricks. Man who thought they could get anything they wanted with their good looks.
Oh well, if she wanted to get to the village without being spotted she would have to leave soon. More so if she didn't want the dead to come after her still living flesh.
First things first, getting Kane's things from the Cave that he left them in. Mages were able to seal things away, but Warriors had to carry everything on their backs. It wasn't like he was going to need anything, not in the spirit world.
She already had his body sealed away, so she was going to have to stop at the Collection Centre to get paid. Even if she hated the building with her every being, all of the stunk and the people who ran them were shady at best. But it wasn't like she could alert Conner or Talia that she was hunting down Missing Soldiers at her age. She could get arrested or best case, they would try to talk to her and find out how she was getting out of the village without being noticed.
Looking at the locket, she placed it around her own neck, hiding it underneath her top. If she ran into Kane's family, she might give it back to them. Might, it depended on how attached to the thing she got. Or if she even had it on her, it looked like something that was best left in her apartment.
Her thoughts paused as a branch was snapped, a dark figure staring at her from the other side of the river. Picking up her staff she already had the fire next to her growing, ready to attack the dark figure. Hand tightening as she moved backwards, she wasn't going to make Kane's mistake and give her enemy something to easily attack her with.
"Night's daughter," they said appearing in front of her fire, they were fast. Kyoko had to give them that much, a woman with black as coal eyes, bleach white hair and her skin was paler then her own.
Heavy gold chains were looped around her neck, wrapping themselves around her left arm before stopping at her wrist. A sleeveless white dress, her feet were bare and her hands covered in black paint.
Kyoko aimed water to hit her in the back, but before it could reach the woman. She moved, arms wrapping around Kyoko's form and her staff was knocked out of her arms. Her fire was missed, but only by a hair's breath.
