His eyes go wide and I feel my hand become wet. I catch Him as he collapses and I lower Him to the ground.
I place my hand over the wound and I cradle Him, my tears melting into his face.
"Why?" he whispers as I stroke his cheek with my shaking hands.
I lean down and kiss his quivering lips. "You'll always be my Prince Charming."
I stay with Him, watching as he fades away. It doesn't take long – a few minutes maybe – but it feels like an eternity. An eternity I want to hold on to forever. But forever has to end. When he's gone, I close his eyelids and pull myself away from Him.
Dragging my knees up and wrapping my arms tightly around them, I rock back and forth and weep. I weep, staring at Him. I can't take my eyes away, as much as I want to, I just can't.
The only reason I know the police have entered the house is the light coming from their torches. I can't hear their cars. I don't hear their sirens. I don't hear their footsteps. I don't hear them talking to me.
All I hear is nothing. And all I see is Him.
