The night before Jase had stayed up late watching TV and trying to distract himself from the worsening of Jacob's condition. He had been getting weaker each day, but the doctor only agreed to meet him on the set date. He called around, tried to reschedule, and everything he could, but he couldn't get a closer date. He did everything he could, but everything was not enough. Everything would not save Jacob. It was all his fault. Why did he let it get this bad? He had no choice, but it still got to him. He kept telling himself that night, "Maybe another show will do the trick. Maybe I'll find something to distract me". News flash: Nothing worked. Jase was up till five o' clock in the morning trying to distract himself until he finally passed out in the middle of a show due to pure exhaustion.
He woke up at noon the next day with sun beaming on his face. He got up and went down the hall to their room. The bed was empty so Jacob must already be up.
Jase went to the kitchen to find a letter on the table. His breathe stopped.
