Adrianne
The sound of her alarm woke Adrianne out of a deep sleep. Looking over she notice that she was at least an hour late for school. Scrambling herself together she rushed just so she could at least make it for second period.
"Hey yo, I walk through the valley of the shadow of death. Where niggas hold tech’s like they mad at the ref. That’s why I keep a cross on my chest, either that or a vest. Do you believe that Eve had Adam in check? And if so you gotta expect to sip juice from the forbidden fruit and get loose."
The smooth sound of J. Cole’s “Forbidden Fruit” played along as Adrianne made her way to school.
Driving up she noticed Kaleb pull up right beside her. Hopefully he didn’t say anything to her because she wasn’t in the mood for his shit.
She was still a little salty from the other day. Especially since she went back to his house to help him an he still wanted to act like an ass.
Every time she would try to hold the baby where it was crying or not, Kaleb would snatch him away. She could tell he was doing this on purpose because she never spoke two words to him since she had been in the house. Plus, the baby would reach for her and wail loudly when Kaleb grabbed him.
At one point the baby was sitting in Adrianne’s lap just chilling. Kaleb’s mama had called so he ha went to go answer the phone. When he came back his eyes looked like they were going to fall out the sockets.
"What are you doing?!" He yelled as he snatched the baby up and let him play on the floor. His little brother began to wail again.
"You’re going to hurt him you keep doing that. All that crying isn’t good for him." Adrianne stated
"What would you know? I don’t even understand why you came back." Kaleb said with a real "nigga" attitude.
"Well what I do know is that he has an ear infection and gas. If you would stop laying him on his belly and start rubbing it he would be fine." She picked the baby back up and started rubbing on his belly until he let out a couple of big burps.
"Secondly" she said as she covered the baby’s ears.
"You needed MY help. You thought because I was mad at you I would just up an leave the baby. You know you don’t know what the fuck you’re doing so stop acting like an asshole and man up." She said angrily as Kaleb stoop back stunned.
Adrianne picked up the baby and her keys as she walked out the door.
"Where are you going?" Kaleb asked.
"WE are going to take him to the doctor. I just told you it looks like he has an ear infection." Adrianne said smartly on her way out.
"You don’t have his insurance cards or anything." Kaleb said
Adrianne picked up the two cards his mama left and show it I him.
"Pay attention to your surroundings." She said as she put the baby inside Her car. Luckily, she brought over her nephew’s car seat from home.
"Why can’t we go in my car?" Kaleb asked
"I don’t want you going at all. If you could just sit back and shut up we can go an come back before bath time." Adrianne said as she turned the volume of her music down real low making sure not to disturb the baby.
"I actually liked that song."
"Stop talking to me Kaleb." Adrianne said cutting her eyes at him while driving.
They made it to the doctor’s office where he gave some medicine to the baby. He made a prescription to their local pharmacy just incase he had anymore problems.
By the time they had got back to Kaleb’s place it was getting late and Kaleb’s baby brother had already fallen asleep.
Resting on Adrianne’s shoulder. She tried to give Kaleb the baby, but he would start to whine an claw on to Adrianne.
"Where’s his room?" Adrianne asked as Kaleb directed her. She laid him down nicely while placing a kiss upon his forehead.
"Make sure to bath him real good in the morning and put some more medicine in his ear." Adrianne said as she was walking out the house.
"You’re not staying?"
"Staying where? With who? You’ve disrespected me and you didn’t even thank me for helping you! You think I’m about to stay here?" Adrianne laughed obnoxiously all the way to her car.
Walking inside the building she went to the attendance office to get a pass to class. She already knew Jaelen was going to chew her out for not being in class to “save” her from Brandon.
"Are you just getting here, honey?" She nodded as the lady wrote the pass. She was almost done when Kaleb came strolling in with red eyes.
I guess the lady noticed the tension because then she said…
"I hope you two weren’t together trying to skip school."
"If we was going to skip we wouldn’t have came at all." Kaleb said smartly.
"We weren’t together. We just pulled up at the same time." Adrianne pleaded as the look in the lady’s eyes never changed.
"I would believe that if your friend here wouldn’t have gotten an attitude. I’m giving you two detention just because I feel like you did something." The lady said as she out it in the system.
She must’ve been serious because normally teachers would give you a slip that you could just throw away and wouldn’t get any penalties for it. Since she out it in the system. Adrianne and Kaleb have to go to the detention or they’ll get suspended.
"Thanks a lot Kaleb. I actually had something to do after school." Adrianne said sarcastically as she briskly walked to her class.
"Why you tripping? Detention isn’t that bad." Kaleb said groggily.
"Save that for someone who likes canceling what they’re doing." Adrianne said as she pulled out her phone to call her sister.
"Hello? Ambrielle? Yeah, I won’t be able to pick Kahari up after school." Kaleb faintly heard somebody on the other line yelling.
"I got detention. You acting like you pay me or something… Calm down. She’ll just have to stay at the daycare until I get out. Alight, cool." Kaleb watched as she put the phone in her pocket and walked off.
"Aye, wait up!" Kaleb said as he caught up with Adrianne.
"What? Can I just go to class in peace please?" Adrianne stressed as she tried to move around him. Somehow Kaleb had gotten her back into a corner and they were so close their lips almost touched.
"I just wanted to say thank you for yesterday. And I wanted to apologize." He said.
"You didn’t appreciate any of that. And are you just apologizing because you think it’s right? If so, move around. I don’t want to here that bull. I’m not one of your hoes." Adrianne said pushing Kaleb off her.
Snatching her back, Kaleb pushed her back into the corner.
"How do you know I have hoes." He asked seriously.
"You always got some little girl in your face. Don’t try to play me Kaleb." Adrianne stated.
"I wouldn’t say they’re hoes. I would say they are females that are around until my wife comes." Kaleb said smartly as he licked his lips. He got closer to Adrianne feeling her shudder under his touch.
"You haven’t seen any hoes around me lately right?" Kaleb asked as Adrianne nodded in response.
"Obviously I’ve found my wife. She’s just too stubborn and blind." Kaleb said as he leaned in and softly placed a kiss on Adrianne’s lips. She smiled and then frowned.
"Try again playboy." She said as she maneuvered her way out of his clutch in time for the bell to ring.
