Some are given the sweet privilege
Of respect
At birth
They are born leopards
They are born wolves
Everyone knows to treat them properly
Treated like actual human beings
Treated well
They never had to ask for this
They never had to beg
Or to plead
They will never once have to know
What it's like to be treated
Any differently
Some become ignorant
Because of this
They only think
"if we are treated fairly,
Then surely so is everyone else"
They don't actually know
They don't actually listen
But there are some
Who yearn
For the smallest lick
Of a taste of this so called
"respect"
They are born domestic
They are born "small"
They are known as
"inferior"
Why?
Because they care
Because they are kind
Their kindness
Their....humanity
Is what has caused others to think of them
Only as
...Weak
...Small
...Young
Unlike the leopards
Unlike the wolves
No one fears them
No one believes they can fight
No one respects them
Then the leopards and wolves
Begin to fight
They fight because it's fun
Because it's easy
Because they know they can
And the crowd cheers them on with
Everything that they've got
Then out of the shadows come the domestics
Everyone laughs at them
Every believes they don't matter
They are weak
They are small
No one thinks they will fight
But they do
The leopards
The wolves
They all laugh
"This will be so easy"
They say
"we'll pin them by their tails"
"hold them up with one paw"
"it might be hard to make it last"
The domestics they fight
The leopards
The wolves are astounded
They are actually good
They could actually win
And they do
The domestics fight
They win
They have something to prove
They aren't weak
They are strong
They aren't inferior
They matter
And finally
They think
Finally
That will see
They all will see
We are strong too
We can fight too
Respect us
Respect us
But the others just laugh even harder
They say
"beginners luck"
"they let you win"
"it's cute when you're angry"
"but you're not actually angry"
"you're too kind"
And that there is the difference between
The leopards, the wolves
And
The domestics
Born with privilege
The leopards will always have respect
Win or loose
They will be treated well
They have no real need to fight
It's just entertainment for them
Just something to fill
Their otherwise dull lives
But the domestics
Will never be looked at as equals
They fight
But it's "cute"
They try, but win or loose
They don't matter
They have reason to fight
And they won't stop fighting
Its the only way they can live
The only way they can survive
They have to prove over and over again
That they matter
That they deserve respect
Because no one believes them
And no matter how many times they win
No matter how many times they prove themselves strong
It won't make a difference
Because they were born weak
They were born small
The leopards fight
Because they can
The domestics fight
Because they have to
It's the only way they can survive
