"We got intel about a new criminal organization. The name's Shadow. They blew up a bomb at a mall in Paris. We still don't know what their objective is, nor what they want. They haven't made any demands yet." The director sighed, before continuing.

"Earlier today, we picked up a transmission. The leader of the organization is meeting up with Phoenix, a famous freelance assassin. No one has seen Phoenix and lived. The meeting will be held in Hong Kong. We think Shadow wants to recruit him. The mission is simple - you are to apprehend Phoenix and pose as him on the meeting with Shadow's representatives. Find out why they need Phoenix and what their objective is. That'll be it. Changbin, take Jisung with you. You're leaving at 6:00." The director stated, dismissing the meeting.

Changbin and Jisung walked out of the briefing room and headed to the armoury in order to get their equipment ready.

"Phoenix, huh. I wonder if he's as good as his reputation is." Jisung sighed dreamily. He was a weird one, but dedicated to his work.

Changbin just nodded. He wasn't this quiet usually, but something about this mission didn't sit well with him. He had a bad feeling about it.

Changbin was working as a government agent. He was part of the black operations team known as District 9, or just D9 for shorter. Needless to say, he was one of the best in this line of work.

He didn't have a family, this making him the perfect candidate for the job. He had nothing to lose. The only person he ever called family was long gone. A boy that stayed at the orphanage with him used to be the most important person in his life. But Changbin had been recruited to work for D9 at a young age, so he had to leave his closest person behind. Temporarily. He later found out that his best friend Hyunjin had run away from the orphanage.

For years, Changbin desperately searched for Hyunjin but to no avail. At this point, he had assumed that Hyunjin was dead.

This is why Changbin was so cold to people, not letting anyone get too close to him. That didn't stop a cheery guy like Jisung though.

The flight had been a long one and Changbin couldn't sleep. Something bugged him, but he didn't know what. It was just an irrelevant feeling though, so Changbin pushed it behind, focusing on the mission at hand.

He and Jisung were currently sitting in a black Honda Civic, surveilling the hotel where Phoenix was supposedly staying. Surprisingly, the hotel wasn't some run down place in the shady parts of Hong Kong. Instead, it was close to one of the most central parts of the city and a few blocks away from the club where the meeting was to take place.

"Are we sure that this is the right spot? Do you think Phoenix would really stay in such an expensive looking hotel? Where it would be easy to get caught?" Jisung mumbled as he held the binoculars up and carefully surveilled the entrance.

"Well, Phoenix is quite well paid for what he does, and he's famous for staying at fancy hotels." Changbin replied as he monitored the inside of the hotel on a laptop.

"Then, do you think he's snobbish? Or maybe some old dude?" Jisung made a grimace as he kept on looking.

Changbin didn't reply. His eyes widened as he zoomed on the image from one of the cameras and stared at a familiar silhouette. A young looking boy, dressed quite fashionably. He was wearing sunglasses, but you could tell that he was definitely good looking. His aura screamed confidence and wealth.

Changbin's blood went cold because this guy looked so much like Hyunjin. No. It couldn't be. Hyunjin was dead.

"-bin. Earth to Changbin." Jisung raised his voice slightly because obviously Changbin was spacing out on him.

Changbin seemed to snap out of the trance he was in as he immediately shuffled the laptop away and grabbed his gun quickly before fleeing out of the car.

"Wait here. I need to check something." Changbin said sternly.

"But we're on a mission." Jisung protested as he held on his colleague's hand.

"Wait here." Changbin repeated, sounding menacing.

"O-okay..." Jisung said nervously, letting go of him. The shorter boy wasn't acting like himself and Jisung was concerned.

Meanwhile, Changbin ran to where he'd seen the guy who looked like Hyunjin last.

When he spotted him, Changbin ran after him.

After chasing this unfamiliar guy, he'd finally caught up with him in an empty hallway.

"Hyunjin!" Changbin yelled to the boy who was a few feet ahead.

The guy suddenly stopped dead in his tracks and turned around. Confusion was present on his face.

"Is-is this really you? You're alive?" Changbin neared the guy slowly, his eyes widened, wearing the same puzzled look as the boy across from him.

"Changbin." The said guy muttered. His face quickly morphed into a frown.

"So it really is you. I've-I've been looking for you for so lon-" Changbin smiled as he now was a hand's reach away from Hyunjin.

"Stop. Don't come any closer. I don't know what you're doing here, but you can leave." Hyunjin replied coldly.

"Leave? Why?" It was Changbin's turn to frown.

"I don't want to see you. Not after you abandoned me. So stop acting like you care and just leave."

"No-I... I didn't leave you..." Changbin pleaded.

"You did! You left me there to rot alone!" Hyunjin snapped.

"I... Wait. It's dangerous for you to be here. You need to come with me right now." The shorter stated sternly.

"What?" Hyunjin seemed confused.

"I can't tell you, but you must come with me. Your life may be in danger." Changbin went closer and took Hyunjin's hand.

"Are you insane?! What danger?!" Hyunjin snapped again as he shook the other male's hand off.

"I told you, I can't tell you." Changbin repeated as he reached for Hyunjin's hand again, but the latter stepped back avoiding Changbin's touch.

"Well, I'm not going anywhere with you. Now leave me alone or else you'll regret it." Hyunjin replied coldly as he turned around to leave.

"No! You need to listen to me. There's-there's a dangerous person staying here-he's a murderer. An assassin. For your safety, you need to come with me." The agent explained. It seemed like his words got through, because Hyunjin suddenly stopped in his tracks.

"Why should I believe you?" Hyunjin asked, his brows narrowed.

"You have to believe me. I'm not supposed to tell you this, but I'm working for the government. I'm an agent. I'm here to stop this guy." Changbin pleaded desperately, scared for his friend's life and hoping that he would listen to him.

"You're insane, Changbin." Hyunjin said before he resumed walking away.

"I'm not! Look, Phoenix is really really dangerous. I just found you and I don't want to lose you again, Hyunjin. Please, come with me." Changbin continued to plead. He wasn't going to leave Hyunjin again. The taller stopped again.

"Phoenix? You work for the government, huh?" Hyunjin questioned as a smirk rose on his face.

"Yes. Now, do you believe me?" Changbin asked, hope in his voice.

"Yes. Yes, I believe you. There's just one problem though." Hyunjin replied as his face returned to being neutral and he turned around, suddenly lunging forward and slamming Changbin face first into the wall, holding the agent's hands behind his back and pressing a knife to his neck.

"I'm Phoenix." Hyunjin chuckled.

I hope you liked this part! This story will have a part 2, since I can't fit it all in a single part. I feel like there aren't enough Changjin stories out there! Remember, Changbin and Hyunjin are also friends, so don't go around saying Changlix is better. We don't want the boys to feel uncomfortable.
